Fiona Duncan, the Independent Strategic Advisor – the promise, is visiting all 32 local authorities across Scotland, to hear from children, young people, families, and care experienced adults, alongside those working to support them, about progress to keep the promise.

Today, Fiona is visiting North Lanarkshire to understand where change is happening and how to overcome the challenges getting in the way.

This week Fiona Duncan, Independent Strategic Advisor – the promise, will have the first of 32 catch ups in local authority areas across Scotland to meet with people to whom the promise was made, and those working to keep it.

In parallel, Fiona Duncan, Chief Social Work Officer Highland, and Convenor of Social Work Scotland, will be working with Scottish Government and Local Government leaders on the specific changes needed.

Professionals that play a key role in work to keep the promise across local areas gathered to share and bring together regional learning and national insights to support the use of Plan 24-30.

New MSPs have been chosen to represent the people of Scotland for the next five years and it is part of their responsibilities to make sure the promise is kept – ensuring that children, young people, families, and care experienced adults have the support they need to thrive.

Although Scotland is now past the midpoint, there is still more work to do, and the scale of the challenge ahead must not be underestimated.
