The Government has today announced its decision on Local Government Reorganisation in Derbyshire.

The option selected is B1. This means Derbyshire will split into two unitary authorities with Bolsover sitting in the Northern authority. The B1 option splits the district of Amber Valley with some parishes joining the Northern authority and some joining the South.

The changes will come into effect from 1 April 2028.

There are no immediate changes to council services, and residents should continue to access services in the usual way.

🎨 A Splash of Colour for South Street Recreation Ground! 🌈

We're delighted to unveil the brand new mural at South Street Recreation Ground!

This vibrant piece of artwork was designed in collaboration with talented students from The Brigg School and brought to life by artist Lucie Maycock and her assistant Dave Elsom, working alongside Junction Arts. The project has been proudly funded by South Normanton Parish Council as part of our commitment to making our community spaces brighter, more welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.

One particularly special feature is the ladybird, whose spots are made from the fingerprints of children from The Brigg School, a wonderful way for them to leave their own lasting mark on this community project. 🐞❤️

A huge thank you to Lucie, Junction Arts, The Brigg School, and everyone else involved in creating this fantastic piece of community artwork. We hope it will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for many years to come.

If you're passing by, why not stop and take a look- we'd love to hear what your favourite part of the mural is💙

More photos to come!

🌟 Help make a difference in our community 🌟

Local shops, businesses, cafés, community venues and organisations can all play a part in helping people feel safe and supported when they're out and about.

The Safe Places Scheme is a simple way to provide reassurance and assistance to those who may need it. Find out how your organisation can get involved by reading the information below from Derbyshire County Council.

Are you a shop, business or organisation that would like to help people feel safer when they’re out and about? If so, we’d love you to join our Safe Place Scheme.

A Safe Place is somewhere people can go if they need help, are lost or feel scared when out in the community. All Derbyshire-based businesses and organisations can become Safe Places including shops, leisure centres, cafés / restaurants and visitor attractions.
A Safe Place can help with things like calling family members or the emergency services and offering a safe area for people to wait until help arrives. You’ll get a Safe Places sticker to display, and your venue will be listed on the Safe Places app. Find out more and apply at https://ow.ly/TN2250Zg8L2 or email [email protected]
