Government has decided to replace 10 councils in Derby and Derbyshire with two unitary councils – one for the north and one for the south – to simplify local government for residents and make it more efficient.

Local councils were asked to put forward proposals for the future of local government in their area and Government decided that the two-council option proposed by district and borough councils was in the best interests of local residents and businesses.

It means residents in Derbyshire Dales, High Peak, Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire will receive services provided by a new council for the north area, while residents in Erewash, South Derbyshire and Derby will receive services provided by a new council for the south area.

The boundary line between the new north and south councils in Derbyshire will split Amber Valley in two. If you live in Amber Valley, your address will determine which new council provides your council services from 1 April 2028.

Each year, SNAP YOUTH takes part in the Frederick Gent Summer Festival (18th June) and the South Normanton Gala (4th July) to raise vital funds for our summer holiday programme.

This year, we'd love to build a team of enthusiastic supporters to join us at these events. Whether you can spare a few hours or help for the whole day, your support would make a huge difference—and we'd love to have a great crowd of people around us helping to make the events a success.

Join us at The Mill Adventure Base, Kings Mill Reservoir, every Friday throughout the 6-week summer holidays, starting from 24th July, for a day packed with exciting outdoor activities and new challenges.
