Earlier in the year our candidate John Temple asked the council for action on an overflowing bin on South Lane
✅ we secured a new larger bin more suited to this busy dog walking and school route (pic 1)
❌ we are now highlighting to the council that the railing mounted bin outside the Grange Park entrance on Front St is overflowing again on a route to schools (pic 2). We will update when action is underway.
❗️We are NOT councillors but act on issues raised with us or as we see them. ❗️There have been 3 Green councillors here for 3 years!

Thank you to the team! 👏🏻

This week, we want to say a huge thank you to every single volunteer who helps make our Scout Group what it is.

Many people see the fantastic sessions that take place each week, but what they don't always see are the countless hours of planning, preparation, administration, maintenance, fundraising, and behind-the-scenes work that keep both the Group and our Scout Hut running successfully.

So far this year, our incredible leader team has delivered hundreds of activities, led six camps (with number seven happening this weekend!), and worked tirelessly to create amazing opportunities for our young people.

They have also achieved something truly remarkable by raising an incredible £20,000 for Phase 1 of our Sustainability Project, enabling the installation of solar panels. And they're already powering ahead with Phase 2!

Alongside all of this, our volunteers continue to maintain the Hut, ensuring it's ready not only for our weekly sessions but also for the wider community to enjoy and use.

None of this happens by accident, and none of it would be possible without our amazing team of volunteers who give up their time, energy, skills, and enthusiasm throughout the year.

From me personally, and on behalf of everyone involved with the Group, thank you. Your dedication makes a real difference to so many young people and to our community.

Thank you for everything you do.

Matt

Labour Calls for Council Action on Parking in East Boldon

We have written to Council Officers in support of resident’s concerns following the proposed introduction of charges at the Grey Horse Car Park.
It is acknowledged that the owners of the car park and in particular the local manger have sought to make arrangements with regular users of the car park to minimise the impact of these charges.
However there are wider issues that the Council must address such as the impact on our schools, access to back lanes and on street parking spill over.
We have asked officers to undertake an urgent review of these issues.
John Temple said, "We are extremely concerned about the adverse effect the loss of free car parking spaces will have on pedestrian and road safety in the village, particularly on the nearby infant and junior schools and Helen Gibson nursery. The Council must quickly intervene to ameliorate the impact of the changes and to ensure safe and efficient traffic management in East Boldon."

Following the good news that our request for handrails at the car park steps was successful and these are now installed, we have just read this from the Grey Horse. We have yet to find out the rate of charges to be implemented but note that customers and users of the pub, Auction Galleries and Scout Hut can register their reg number for free parking whilst there. A 20 min drop off will be allowed to enable school runs. We regularly attend the Community Area Forum and can take your views forward if you have any questions.
Cleadon Village & East Boldon Labour

We have some upcoming changes to our car park, it will be managed by Euro Car Parks, don't worry though all customers and visitors to either the auction room and Scout hut will not be charged for using the car park. Each venue will have a tablet which you will need to enter your Reg number into to be exempt during your visit. Any other cars will have to pay per hour for your stay using one of the many parking apps on your phone. Signage will be installed shortly if you need any more information.
Anyone can use the car park for free for 20 minutes which will cover any drop offs to the school etc. We will let everyone know when the system goes live
Thanks

Labour gets things done in our community

Just before the election, our candidates , John Temple and Tina Roche called for the Stonegate Group to install a handrail at the steps leading from the Grey Horse Car Park to North Lane, East Boldon.
We are pleased that this has now been completed.
John Temple said, “I am delighted that following Labour’s repeated requests, Stonegate has installed a handrail on the steps. This will be of great benefit to users of this busy thoroughfare.”

Thank you

John Temple and Tina Roche, who stood as Labour candidates for
Cleadon Village and East Boldon at Thursday’s local election, today
thanked those electors who voted Labour. John Temple said, “Although
we were unsuccessful on this occasion, Tina and I would like to thank all
those who gave us and the Labour Party their support. Furthermore, we
are grateful to the people of East Boldon and Cleadon, who in the main,
received us and the Labour team, with courtesy and respect.” He
continued, “Tina and I also wish to place on record our grateful thanks to
our fantastic agent, Merv Butler and to those Labour members and
supporters who gave of their time to help with our campaign. It has been
a pleasure to work with them, and we have greatly appreciated their
encouragement and comradeship.” In conclusion, John Temple said,
“The election result, both locally and nationally, is a catastrophe for
Labour. We urgently need to listen, learn, rebuild and renew in order that
we can regain the confidence and support of local neighbourhoods and
communities, which we remain ready to serve.”
