New Mayor of Southam Graham Foster is not a lifetime resident of Southam but recently passed the 25 years mark. Before that he had lived in London, the Sussex coast, Leicester, Bradford and Somerset. He has worked across the UK as well as in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, USA, China and Russia (where he was arrested and will tell the story for the price of a drink).
It was a new job in Coventry that brought him to Southam, having been recommended as an easy commute by a former resident. He and wife Lesley continued working here and finished bringing up their two sons. That done, Graham decided to have a go at being a Town Councillor and has now been one for 10 years. This is his second time being Mayor, having been Mayor 2020/1. He has worked on the Neighbourhood Plan, Dementia Friendly Southam, web sites, Indoor Market, Town Centre Refresh and the Community Groups Alliance.
This year Graham has chosen Acorns Children's Hospice and Myton Hospices as his charities to support and raise money for over the year. Hospices are all under enormous financial pressure now and get little central funding. You too can help by visiting and, more importantly, buying from their shops in Southam. Look out for events coming up over the year to support raising funds for these charities.
