From Idea to Impact: Writing a Winning Awards for All Application

Led by two experienced Southampton City Council officers, this free one-hour online workshop is designed for community groups, voluntary organisations, CICs, and charities seeking to secure funding through the National Lottery’s Awards for All programme.

It’s National Hate Crime Awareness Week.

The definition of a hate crime is: “Any incident or behaviour that is perceived to be motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a person’s race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, transgender identity, or disability is considered a hate incident or hate crime. Any hate incident which constitutes a criminal offence is a hate crime.”

In line with the theme, this year’s focus is on disability hate crime, highlighting the unique challenges faced by disabled people and the importance of inclusive support.

If you have been affected by hate crime, please reach out for support.

You can report hate crime by calling the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Find out more here: soton.cc/ReportHateCrime

If you're a council tenant, you can also contact your local housing office: soton.cc/HousingOffice

Southampton City Council is deeply saddened by the distressing incident that took place at a synagogue in Manchester yesterday. Our thoughts are with the Jewish communities in Manchester and across the country.

Southampton stands in solidarity with all those affected. In times like these, it is more important than ever that we come together in unity, reaffirming our shared values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.

Places of worship should be sanctuaries of safety and reflection, not sites of fear. We must continue to build bridges between communities and reject hate. We extend our heartfelt support and sympathies to the communities affected in Manchester. You are not alone.

Our Communities Team will continue to work with partners and communities to ensure that Southampton is a safe city for all.

Our next PACT meeting is being held at the Oasis Hub on Melchet Road on Thursday at 6pm. We hope to see you there!
