In a different video tweeted last night, two international students explain why they have been waiting in line for food at 10:30 PM!

Absolutely outrageous that anyone should be left behind in this pandemic, especially the most vulnerable with no recourse to public funds. Universities and the Government treats international students as cash cows - they deserve so much better! They have been severely let down through this pandemic.

The University is putting in a bid for funding to introduce targeted mental health resources (e.g. counselling, programmes) for Black and Chinese students, and have arranged for a student consultation. If you'd like to take part and evidence demand within the community, the group event is taking place on Wednesday 18th (tomorrow) at 10AM—which you can register for using the form below.

The event is online via Teams, and participants can choose from a water bottle or towel + headband set as a gift for participating.

"In countless contexts, Black students, workers and communities are too familiar with the routine of institutions, organisations, leaders and so on having only hindsight to offer on incidents of racism and specifically anti-Blackness. Not vision, not solution; only hindsight. The consistent allusion to confusion and uncertainty in Gardner’s reflection does nothing to support the idea that either the Union or the University understands what a commitment to anti-racism looks like from a practical standpoint. Who dealt with the incident, as he deliberates over, has no implied consequence over the equivocation we were met with in the end. The dust has settled and the fixation on the timestamp of the incident makes clear the priorities in this statement—which, perhaps, have nothing to do with Black students."
