๐ As part of the QI Leaders Pathway 2025 Vets for Pets course, Laura Stapleton led a practical quality improvement project focused on infection prevention in practice.
๐พ Her project, โPaw & Order: Cleanliness Unitโ, tackled inconsistencies in cleaning and disinfection by strengthening daily standards across consultation rooms, prep, and reception areas - key spaces for patient and team safety.
By clarifying cleaning checklists, using UV fluorescent markers to audit highโtouch surfaces, and engaging the whole team through training and feedback, Laura set a clear aim: 80% of identified touch points cleaned and disinfected daily. Small, visible changes helped raise awareness and embed more reliable routines.
โ
The impact? Improved consistency, stronger infection control practices, and a shared team commitment to cleaner, safer environments for patients, clients, and colleagues.
