🛣 M27 Update 🛣

This morning all four lanes of the M27 Junctions 5 to 7 reopened as National Highways has now completed the technology testing and the concrete resurfacing works. Variable speed limits are in place.

As part of the scheme, they have:

🚘 overlayed the concrete surface with 89,907 tonnes of low-noise asphalt
🚘 excavated 11,661m3 of earth
🚘 installed 9,460 of concrete barrier
🚘 installed 5,912m of non-concrete barrier
🚘 repaired or replaced 11,289m of drainage
🚘 sealed 78,543m of joints between concrete bays
🚘 replaced 281 concrete bays
🚘 completed 1,100 concrete repairs
🚘 installed 6,308 road studs

⚠ On Tuesday 30th June the M3 southbound to M27 eastbound link road will be closed overnight (9pm-6am).

Diversion:
continue northbound on the M3
exit at junction 13
follow the A335 to the A27
travel eastbound to M27 junction 7
join the M27 eastbound carriageway

Dates may change due to weather or operational needs.

⚠☀ CHILDREN'S PLAY AREAS ☀⚠

With temperatures soaring, please take extra care when using our children's play areas.

Equipment such as slides, swings, climbing frames, tunnels and other surfaces can become extremely hot in direct sunlight and may cause burns.

Always check equipment with your hand to see that it is safe to touch before allowing children to play.

The Paddling Pool is open but in this very hot weather please exercise caution with sunscreen, sunsuits, hats, keeping hydrated and avoiding play at the hottest part of the day.

🎉 🪡 Congratulations to Dee O’Neil who has won this year’s Hedge End Town Council’s Serving the Community Award. Dee was nominated for the incredible way she has used her sewing, knitting and crochet skills to raise more than £47,000 for charity.

She raffled her £100 gift voucher prize and raised a further £349 for the charity New Life Domestic which supports victims of domestic abuse in Hedge End and surrounding areas.

Eastleigh Borough Council are in the process of developing a new Sports and Active Lifestyles Strategy.

How important is physical activity to you? What opportunities would you like to see to increase participation in sport and physical activity in the Borough?

They have launched an online survey and welcome views from members of the public, agencies, businesses and community organisations.

The survey closes on 31st July.

Slip Road Closures M27 Resurfacing

National Highways: South-East has told us that the ongoing testing and commissioning phase will soon be complete and the M27 between junctions 4 and 7 will shortly return to 70mph.

To do the final testing and commissioning activities, they need to close the M27 junction 7 and 8 westbound entry and exit slip roads overnight between 9pm and 6am on 17th June 2026.
