Do you heat your home using heating oil? 🔥

A reminder that we’re working with Citizens Advice East Hampshire to support Hampshire residents who rely on heating oil and are struggling with increased costs.

As well as help towards the cost of heating oil for eligible residents, Citizens Advice can also provide general advice on managing energy costs and wider finances.

This support is part of the Crisis Resilience Fund, which helps households facing financial pressure with essential costs.

🌿 We’re growing our Grounds Maintenance Team — come and join us! 🌿

Bursledon Parish Council is looking to recruit a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our in-house Grounds Maintenance team.

This is an exciting time to join the Council. The Parish Council is taking on responsibility for new areas of land and is looking to strengthen its team so we can continue improving and caring for the open spaces, play areas, cemeteries, sports pitches, allotments and outdoor facilities used by our community.

This is a practical, hands-on outdoor role for someone who enjoys working outside, takes pride in their work and wants to help keep local spaces safe, tidy and well maintained.

The role will include:

✓ grass cutting and strimming
✓ hedge cutting and vegetation management
✓ maintaining open spaces, cemeteries, play areas, sports pitches and allotments
✓ litter picking and general site maintenance
✓ using grounds maintenance tools, machinery and vehicles safely
✓ working as part of a small, friendly team

We are looking for someone who is reliable, hard-working and practical. Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, grass cutting, strimming or similar outdoor work would be an advantage, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are also important.

Post: Grounds Maintenance Operative
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: SCP 13 — £31,410 per annum, subject to the 2026/27 national pay award
Location: Bursledon Parish Council
Contract: Permanent, subject to satisfactory probationary period

⚠️ King George V Playing Field – Update ⚠️

Thank you to everyone who contacted the Council regarding the recent unauthorised encampment at King George V.

The Council fully understands the concern and frustration this situation caused for local residents, particularly given the impact on the recreation ground and children’s play area. The play area will remain closed until final checks can be made.

As soon as the encampment was identified, the Council took steps to work with the relevant agencies and served notice requesting that the site be vacated. The unauthorised encampment left the site on Sunday afternoon.

The Council is now reviewing both its procedures for dealing with unauthorised encampments and the security arrangements at vulnerable sites to help strengthen our response and reduce the likelihood of similar incidents in future.
