Sunshine, warm weather, and the school holidays can only mean one thing... it's time to get the paddling pool out in the garden!
While everyone enjoys cooling off, it's important to remember that standing water can provide the perfect conditions for Legionella bacteria to grow.
• Empty and refill paddling pools every couple of days.
• Keep the pool clean and free from debris.
• Empty the pool completely when not in use for extended periods.
With hosepipe bans in place in some areas, it may be tempting to leave the water in the pool for longer to conserve water. However, it's important to balance water conservation with cleanliness and hygiene. Regular cleaning and refreshing of the water can help reduce the risk of bacterial growth and keep summer fun safe for everyone.
A little extra care can go a long way in ensuring a safe and enjoyable summer for the whole family.

When temperatures rise, ventilation becomes more than a comfort issue. It becomes a patient safety issue.
As the UK experiences longer and more frequent periods of hot weather, hospitals are facing increasing pressure to maintain safe, healthy indoor environments.
In healthcare settings, effective ventilation isn't simply about keeping people comfortable. It's essential for supporting infection control, managing indoor air quality, protecting vulnerable patients, and helping critical building systems operate as intended.
Many hospital buildings were not designed for the temperatures we're now experiencing. During periods of prolonged heat, ventilation systems can come under significant strain as facilities teams work to balance fresh air requirements, temperature control, and operational efficiency. Studies have highlighted that many NHS buildings are vulnerable to overheating, creating challenges for both patient care and staff wellbeing.
This is why proactive ventilation maintenance matters.
Clean ductwork, properly maintained air handling units, and efficient ventilation systems help ensure healthcare environments can perform as effectively as possible when demand is highest.
For healthcare estates teams, resilience isn't just about responding to heatwaves. It's about preparing for them.
As temperatures continue to rise, ventilation should be recognised not as a facilities issue alone, but as a critical component of patient safety and healthcare resilience.
If you’d like support with your ventilation compliance, keep Swiftclean in mind – we’ve been assisting the healthcare industry with keeping their ventilation systems clean for over 40 years.

Some things are easy to overlook, until you know what to look for.

Tomorrow, on Wednesday 12th of August, a solar eclipse will take place, with a partial eclipse visible from the UK.

At Swiftclean, much of our work is about what isn’t immediately visible. From hidden ventilation systems to the unseen risks within a building, we help organisations keep their environments clean, compliant and safe.

Tomorrow’s eclipse is a rather more spectacular reminder that there’s often more going on than meets the eye!

If you’re planning to watch, remember to do so safely and never look directly at the Sun without suitable solar viewing protection.

Here’s hoping for clear skies...

Are you looking for a sign that your asbestos register needs updating? This might be it!

An asbestos register should be current, legible and easy to access so that anyone carrying out maintenance or building work can quickly understand where asbestos-containing materials may be present.

If yours is damaged, difficult to read or no longer reflects the condition of your building, it’s time to arrange a review.

Don’t wait until essential safety information is needed; make sure your asbestos records are clear and up to date.

Historic venue. Modern compliance.

This week, Martin, our Commercial Director, visited Shakespeare's Globe Theatre to share his expertise on kitchen extract cleaning and discuss how Swiftclean can support the theatre's compliance requirements.
Did you know? In Elizabethan England, coloured flags were flown above theatres to advertise performances. White signalled a comedy, red a history, and black a tragedy, helping audiences decide what to watch long before posters and social media existed.
We're proud to support some of the UK's most iconic venues, helping them maintain safe, compliant environments behind the scenes.

Happy Afternoon Tea Week

From freshly baked scones to perfectly brewed tea, commercial kitchens will be working hard this week serving up afternoon tea all over the UK.

Behind every great afternoon tea is a kitchen extract system that should be kept clean, safe and compliant. Regular TR19® Grease kitchen extract cleaning helps reduce fire risk, improves hygiene and keeps kitchens operating efficiently.

If your kitchen is serving up afternoon tea, make sure your extract system isn't serving up hidden grease.
