92% of reported crimes go unsolved.

Too often, police are handed clear leads and fail to follow them up.

That must change. Crime must have consequences.

Andy Burnham has just made a convicted fraudster his Deputy Prime Minister.

14/07/2026

BREAKING: In an unprecedented move, Labour have scrapped the Conservative vote that would force Andy Burnham to face Parliament when he becomes Prime Minister on Monday.

Tomorrow, Conservatives were scheduled to used our Opposition Day to force a vote that would extend Parliament so Andy Burnham’s new government face scrutiny before the summer recess period. But Labour have blocked it.

They are running scared. They know Burnham’s honeymoon period will end the moment he has to explain what he actually plans to do.

There was a huge turnout at today’s meeting about the closure of the aviary at Botanic Gardens in Churchtown.

None of the decision makers from Sefton Council attended and they have still not provided any figures about the cost of addressing the welfare concerns they’ve cited as one of the reasons for the closure.

The only figure given so far is the £60,000 per year running costs they say they need to save from the budget.

A lot of support for the hard working volunteers who have received very little information about what is being proposed.

The aviary is part of Southport’s history, so many have visited there as a child, taken their own children there and, in some cases, now take their grandchildren as well.

It’s imperative that public pressure on the council is kept up, so sign our petition to let Sefton Council know the strength of feeling locally 👇👇

The change a Labour government makes

03/07/2026

Sefton Council has recently announced that they are planning to close the much loved and iconic aviary at Botanic Gardens in Churchtown.

We are calling on Sefton Council to reverse this decision and we are asking members of the public to support us by signing our petition to save the aviary.

The aviary holds a special place in the hearts of many across Southport with memories of childhood visits and many people who've grown up in Southport having then taken their own children there. It's part of the fabric of Southport and one of the many quirky features that makes Southport such a great place to live, work and visit.

The closure of the aviary will save around £60,000 for Sefton Council but we think there are plenty of other ways the council can find this money within their budgets.

All parties across the political spectrum want to see the aviary saved and we want to help bring as much pressure as possible on Sefton Council for them to change their minds and reverse what is a terrible decision for Southport.

Sign our petition to show your support for keeping the aviary open.
