Please stay safe during this hot weather - The Dangers of Open Water Swimming

Open water may look inviting, but reservoirs and rivers can be extremely dangerous. Cold‑water shock, hidden currents, steep sides and underwater hazards can all put lives at risk.

We’re urging everyone—especially young people—not to swim in reservoirs or other open water.

The Parish Council has supplied hanging baskets for local businesses, with all plants grown by Calderdale Council and the baskets purchased from CMBC.
Thank you to all the businesses displaying them — and a special thank‑you to those who purchase additional baskets to help keep the village looking lovely.

• Taking all litter home – glass can start fires
• Ensuring ci******es are fully extinguished and not thrown on the ground
• Keeping to Public Rights of Way and staying alert to smoke or unusual activity.

A quick update on the Old Library redevelopment:

All internal walls, ceilings and flooring have now been removed ready for the next phase of works.

We’re pleased that the majority of the original shelving will be repurposed by a local community group, keeping materials in use and supporting local projects.

An Invitation to Tender for the next stage of works will be issued in due course, and we’ll continue to keep residents updated as things move forward.
