This is something very close to my heart and people I care about.

Holly was tragically killed by her husband, a man with a known history of violence — including cruelty towards animals.

Her family are now campaigning for Holly’s Law: a UK Animal Cruelty Register that would record those convicted of harming or killing animals. Research shows there is a strong link between animal cruelty and domestic abuse. It’s often an early warning sign of escalating violence.

This isn’t just about animals. It’s about recognising red flags sooner and protecting people too.

Yesterday, I got a McDonald’s Friends meal and as I’m sitting here looking at this little figure, I couldn’t help but wonder.
If Phoebe Buffay from Friends discovered Utility Warehouse, would it go something like this…

Do they have group hugs?

Because I feel like they’d have group hugs.”

Yesterday we celebrated my son Mark’s 24th birthday — and I genuinely don’t know where those years have gone.

Over 24 years, life changes… a lot. There have been highs, challenges, lessons learned (sometimes the hard way), and plenty of moments where I’ve questioned myself. But through it all, I’ve always tried to lead with love and do what I believed was right at the time. Parenthood certainly keeps you humble.

It was a full day. I spent the morning face painting to help raise funds for my daughter’s Girl Guides group — a great reminder of the value of community and supporting the next generation.

In the afternoon, we headed to King’s Lynn and visited Lynn Museum, where there’s currently a Star Wars exhibit alongside the fascinating Sea Henge display. Watching Mark engage with the exhibits and information was a proud moment — curiosity and lifelong learning are qualities I really admire.

We finished the day with a family cinema trip and birthday cake at home — simple things, but the moments that matter most.

Days like yesterday remind me why I work hard: to build a life that allows flexibility, family time, and the ability to show up for the people who matter most.
