“The bills just keep falling – constantly!"

South Holland District Council is investing in its council homes to help tenants reduce energy costs, improve comfort and enjoy more energy-efficient living. Through real tenant experiences, we're showing how green home improvements are delivering lasting benefits for residents.

When South Holland tenant, Tony Dean, moved into his council property, it already had air source heat pumps and cavity wall insulation.

Last year, he had solar panels fitted, loft insulation other improvement works including as part of South Holland District Councils’ Warm Homes Project which has delivered energy-efficiency improvements to 469 council properties across the district.

In February, Tony’s energy bill was less than £100 for his two-bed bungalow. From June 14 – 14 July, his bill was just £9.99.

The energy being produced by the solar panels is helping keep bills low and keeping residents living warmer and more comfortably in their homes.

South Holland District Council secured funding to upgrade a further 740 of the council’s least energy efficient properties. Subject to future funding opportunities, the Council aims to upgrade even more homes.

If you are a Council tenant, you can find out more about the scheme by visiting www.sholland.gov.uk/article/30790/Improving-the-energy-efficiency-of-homes or email [email protected] or call 01775 764449 or 01775 764881

Our waste teams will be working tomorrow, on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August.

If your collection day is Monday, you need to put your refuse, recycling or garden waste out as normal.

This also means that there will be no changes to collection days throughout the bank holiday week – simply put your sacks and bins out on their usual day.
Residents can find out their collection days here https://www.sholland.gov.uk/mycollections

We have changed the way that our waste services operate and there will now be collections on bank holidays, apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
