Last night we had the very great pleasure of showing The Rotary Club of Eyemouth & District members around the Station and the boat. The thanks go both ways as the Club has helped us enormously over the years with our Gala, with projects and with generous support. Great to meet you all. Thank you for coming.

Its not every day you spot a humpback breaching whilst on a lifeboat training exercise. Being highly aware of the need to stay a very long way from these amazing creatures, the boat stayed over half a mile away to enjoy the show using zoom lenses. After that the crew practiced anchoring and veering, use of drogue and fire at sea in quite lumpy conditions in Coldingham Bay.

📟 Crew paged 📟 Wednesday 12th August 2026
Yesterday evening, during training, our crew were asked to attend an incident above the harbour. Our newest crew member, being a paramedic, gave on site casualty care to enable the casualty to go to hospital for further treatment.
Later that evening crew members were alerted by calls for help from the harbour and assisted a casualty who had fallen off the harbour wall onto rocks below. All crew were paged at 23.30 and, working against an incoming tide with all emergency services now present, the casualty was lifted from the rocks and transported to a waiting ambulance. This was a multi-agency incident with ambulance, police, Eyemouth Coastguard and fire service in attendance working in partnership.

This evening our crew faced blustery conditions to practice navigation and search patterns. We were joined this evening by two potential new recruits, Mark and Michael, who were introduced to the basics of lifeboat launch. If they decide to become crew, they will of course go through extensive training.

📟Shout📟
Sunday 2nd August 2026
Today the crew were paged by Aberdeen Coastguard at 16:20 to a call that a small fishing boat had been seen off Coldingham Bay, potentially unmanned. The St Abbs Lifeboat was quickly launched and was on its way by 16:26
Once radio comms we're established with Aberdeen we were directed east towards Eyemouth where the boat was quickly located and the occupant was found to be unaware of the incident and fishing away peacefully. Whilst wearing a gray hoodie with the hood up it was difficult to see him. Once the crew were happy that he had a life jacket on and had a means of calling for help the lifeboat was stood down and returned the St Abbs where it was washed down and made ready for Service.
If you see something you are not sure about at sea or on the coast call 999 and ask for the Coastguard & give as much detail as possible. When going afloat always wear a life jacket, have a means of calling for help in a water proof pouch. Let someone know where you are going and when you are expected back.
