Hi everyone, another post before voting opens tonight! Here are a few ideas related to careers. I think organised talks are really useful, but increasing networking opportunities is really key - even simple relationships such as advisers of studies and coffee connect mentors can help students to find experience, so I'd love to help facilitate more opportunities for this kind of networking 🙂
remember voting is tonight at midnight until 6pm on friday!

hi guys! it was lovely to speak to some of you on monday - and it was really helpful to understand some of the issues faced by other year groups. If elected I will definitely work to make sure these issues are heard 🙂
On a similar note, here are a few of my ideas related to issues with coursework. Every semester at the SSCC there are individual issues that I think could be solved with some standardisation of how assignments are set out.
Remember voting opens just past midnight tonight so remember to vote for Ava True for bio pres if you want to see the ideas I've been talking about implemented!🥰

next up in this mini series of going a bit more in depth into my manifesto and expanding on my vision- building community! Biology has been done dirty with the lack of a biology building, hopefully we get this new one soon, but in the mean time, I will work to make the Hive a better space - it is actually a decent space but no one ever goes there, so I'd like to make it easier to access (since it is always locked right now), and allow bookings for study groups or screenings of documentaries - since there is a massive unused projector!
Apart from that, I'd organise socials such as pub quizzes, picnics, socials within year groups, with mentors/mentees, and also staff-student socials for students to get to hear about their lecturers' research, as well as just getting to chat to all the amazing staff we see every day but may not get a chance to get to chat to otherwise 🌻

Happy monday everyone, hope you all have a good week!!
I just wanted to highlight a few things I would like to work on in relation to tutorials in the school of biology, and these are two of my biggest priorities, getting small group discussion based classes to enhance students' confidence in their learning, and to make the most of bset tutorials.
I carried out surveys last semester and found that a lot of students thought that outside of labs, which vary in frequency, biology is really lacking in interactive teaching that is not passively attending lectures. I myself find it really difficult to understand and remember concepts without ever having to speak about them. Thus I would like to push for a few more discussion based classes in groups small enough that no one feels afraid to speak up, as the classes of 50+ can be very intimidating to speak up in.
Secondly, bSET tutorials were set up in response to student demand! So we should decide how they are used. Many people find that the time slot could be used more efficiently, so I would like to emphasise student's opinions when they are being planned.
I'll be back in the next few days spotlighting other aspects of my campaign, but if anyone would like me to talk about anything in particular, let me know!
Apart from that, I will be outside medicine (with chocolate!) 4-5 today if you would like to drop by and ask any questions!

Hi everyone! I'm Ava and I am running for biology school president and would love to use this campaign period to speak to as many of you as possible, to share my vision but also listen to what you all would like to see changed in the school of biology next year
I will publish my manifesto here in the coming days, and I will be floating about north haugh/the union so if you are not familiar with me hopefully you will be by the end of the week, as well as my bucket of chocolate which is *not* a bribe, but an incentive to come and ask me some questions! 🍃🍄🐡🦔
