ESUAS visit RAF Lossiemouth

ESUAS students were lucky to spend the day with II(AC) Squadron and 42(TB) Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth. Over the day students were privileged with the rare experience of operating both the Typhoon and P-8 Poseidon simulators where the technology were exact replicas of the aircraft cockpits. Overall students gained further knowledge on the capabilities and role of Poseidon and Typhoon with walk arounds of both aircrafts. RAF Lossiemouth remains the most active station in the UK which was emphasised throughout the day and its crucial role in UK and international airspace security.

ESUAS students visited AAC Middle Wallop and RNAS Yeovilton as part of the Squadron’s Force Development component. Over the course of a week, the participants learnt about the Army Air Corps and their operation of both the Apache Attack and Mk1 Wildcat Helicopter Fleets. This was also an opportunity to learn about wider British Army Operations, helping to educate the attendees on the importance of tri-service integration and cooperation.

10 ESUAS students took on the challenge of abseiling down the mighty Forth Rail Bridge, to support the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance.

The students have raised a considerable amount of money for this fantastic charity by taking part in this daredevil feat.

Well done to all students who took part and thank you to everyone who donated!

ESUAS lucky students had an outstanding and enjoyable visit to RAF Brize Norton and had a full view of Air Mobility in action. From seeing the designs of parachute delivery at JADTEU, to the delivery of it at 47 Air Despatch Squadron as well as looking around the C17 and A400 aircraft and the parachute jump school, it was an exciting time. The weeks visit culminated in a thrilling and enlightening flight in an A400 Atlas aircraft. Thanks to all at RAF Brize Norton for a varied and brilliant week.

Lossiemouth SVA 🚀✈️

In July, three students from ESUAS participated in a Service Vocational Attachment (SVA) at RAF Lossiemouth. The purpose of the SVA is to provide a comprehensive understanding of life on an operational base and to aid students in making informed career decisions within the RAF.

The program featured visits to the 2 and 6 Typhoon squadrons, the Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) facilities, the RAF mountaineering unit 🏔️, the RAF Police Dog team 🐾, and the Atlantic building housing the P-8 Poseidon. Students had numerous opportunities to engage with serving personnel and discuss their careers and duties. The week ended on a high with the Lossiemouth Friends and Families Day, where students enjoyed several air displays, including the F-35, and interacted with personnel from the US Air Force and the Irish Air Corps. 🌟

Would you or someone you know like to take on an experience like this? We are now recruiting! Click the link in our bio to apply now. 📲✨

MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION COURSE 🏔️

ESUAS students recently braved the elements in a 5-day Summer Mountain Foundation Course. Despite the season, they faced high winds, rain, low temperatures, and poor visibility. This course was crucial in helping them develop individual skills to excel in summer mountaineering. They improved navigation, tackled diverse terrains, and utilised their personal kit and resource management. The course finished with a successful 2-day expedition through the Cairngorms, where they summited two Munros: Ben MacDui and Derry Cairngorm.
