WELCOMING A NEW MEMBER CAMBRIDGESHIRE CONSERVATIVE GROUP

I am absolutely delighted to announce that Des Watt has officially joined the Conservative Group on Cambridgeshire County Council.
Since being elected in May 2025, Des has proven himself to be a dedicated, hardworking champion for his local community, consistently standing up for local residents and pushing for common-sense values in Yaxley and Farcet.

As the political landscape shifts, it’s clearer than ever that if you want to see real, effective challenge to the failing administration and a strong voice for Cambridgeshire, working together is the way forward. Des recognises that the Conservative team is best placed to deliver that positive vision and hold the council to account.

Having been elected as a Reform Councillor, Des was disappointed at the silence from his former colleagues. They said nothing when so much was going wrong. The Conservatives don’t and haven’t stayed silent.

Welcome Des

Is free parking after 4pm the right scheme for St Neots? Let Cllr Ross Martin know your view ahead of the meeting tonight.

Is free after 4pm right for Huntingdonshire? I say no! What do you think?

My Conservative team have put forward doing 1 HOUR FREE. But on every occasion The Lib Dems, Greens and Independent have said no, "because there isn't a Parking Strategy". There is still no Parking Strategy, but they are going ahead with this scheme.

The Mayor has been clear, he is open to other offers and the money isn't going to disappear. Therefore they must believe this is the best option for our towns 🤷 which is a farce.

My team said Cabinet think again and have the conversations with the Mayor... and wait for the Parking Strategy (which is now 3 years late).

There is now more information since the last Scrutiny meeting and Cabinet's decision... will HDC's Cabinet think again?

Let me know your thoughts ahead of tonights meeting.

Know the job. Do the job.

A councillor’s job is not just to make noise online. It is to understand how local government works, help residents get answers, and report back on what is being done.

Some issues sit with HDC. Others sit with the county council, town council, police, housing providers or other organisations. A good councillor should know the difference and chase the right people.

That is what Eynesbury should expect.

Eynesbury deserves Councillors who focus on residents and local services.

That means turning up, listening properly, chasing issues, and reporting back - not disappearing after election day. And not turning every issue into an online row.

What local issue in Eynesbury most needs attention?

Huntingdonshire is a district we are proud to call home. From our historic market towns to our resilient rural villages, our communities are defined by pride, character, and a shared sense of belonging. As local Conservatives, we believe your council should reflect those values—serving people, not politics.

But over the past four years, Huntingdonshire District Council has lost its way. The Lib Dem-led coalition has hoarded millions in reserves while slashing local services, raising taxes, and focusing on pet projects instead of practical outcomes.

It's time to turn the page.

We are offering a practical, resident-first agenda rooted in the real priorities of local people. We believe in a council that puts YOU first, spends wisely, listens carefully, and delivers services that make a difference.

Today our leader, Cllr Ross Martin, launched the Conservative manifesto for Huntingdonshire.

After years of rising costs and declining services under the Liberal Democrat administration, Huntingdonshire deserves better.

Our plan focuses on the basics - keeping costs down, delivering reliable services, and making sure decisions work for local communities.

A clear plan. A competent council. A fresh start for Huntingdonshire.
