A former food business in the village of Gnosall has been ordered to pay more than £30,000 for a series of hygiene failures.
The borough council stepped in after a report of rats outside the premises and rubbish being left next to food in the kitchen.
A court was told that, despite being served with an ‘Improvement Notice’, the council returned to Zinga Indian Restaurant and found the standard of cleaning was still “very poor” and many other hygiene issues had not been addressed.

Powering the Council with Renewable Energy

We’re using cleaner energy to help power Stafford Borough Council.

As part of our work to reduce our environmental impact, 100% of the energy we purchase comes from renewable energy sources.

Increasing the use of renewable energy helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels and supports our work towards a more sustainable Stafford Borough.

Small changes matter – and we’re making changes to our own operations too.

Fines have been issued to four teenage boys for a spate of anti-social behaviour in Stafford town centre. And more have also been identified and will be receiving the £100 fixed penalty notices over the next few days.

It follows a series of complaints about groups of lads intimidating shoppers, residents and visitors around the town centre - including throwing eggs at passing cars, attacking cyclists, and assaulting people.

All the boys, aged between 13 and 16 years old, were visited at home and the penalties were issued to them or their parents.

Work on a new playground for youngsters at Rowley Park Sports Stadium in Stafford is expected to get underway before the end of the year - and completed in Spring 2027.
It is part of major plans for the park.
Images have been released to show what the new improved and inclusive play area will look like. Award-winning outdoor playground equipment specialists, Wicksteed, will carry out the revamp.

The initial stages of the scheme have been funded through money that developers provide to local authorities to deliver benefits to the community. Preliminary work has already seen the main gates and entrance to the park enhanced - with improvements to the pathway ongoing.

The owners of the former job centre in Greyfriars, Stafford have been ordered to pay more than £56,000 for leaving the site in a poor state.
A court heard there had been repeated complaints about the derelict property.
An enforcement notice requiring the owners, Eaglemount Limited, to tidy up the premises was not complied with - so the company was prosecuted by Stafford Borough Council.
They were found guilty after a trial yesterday (Monday 28 September) for the breach of the Enforcement Notice.
