Volunteering in insurance and regulation at Jubilee Hall is an important and varied role that helps keep the hall safe, compliant, and well managed. The work involves keeping an eye on key requirements such as insurance cover, licences, policies, risk assessments, and health and safety responsibilities, making sure the right checks and records are in place.

This role often means working quietly in the background, but it is essential to the smooth running of the hall. It can include reviewing documents, checking renewal dates, supporting safe working practices, helping trustees and volunteers understand their responsibilities, and making sure activities and events are supported by the correct procedures.

One of the key selling features of our hall is the great bar and kitchen facilities. From live music events to private hire, the bar is extremely important to contribute to the success and happiness of the function.

We need volunteers to join us and have fun, whether pouring pints or mixing drinks, there’s always a warm buzz as regulars and newcomers alike gather for events. Serving customers isn’t just about handing over drinks — it’s about being friendly, sharing a smile, and making everyone feel welcome.

We need a team of volunteers or to put it another way “a pool of resource” that we can circulate the dates and plan who is available to work at which event, gig or booking.

1. 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬 and keep the bar tidy

2. 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫: help with loading the glass washer, glass air dryer and restocking bar shelves

3. 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 – as and when help collect empty glasses/cups from the tables

4. 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐤𝐞𝐠𝐬 – We can show you how quick and simple it is to change empties to full ones

5. 𝐀𝐋𝐒𝐎: as important, chat with guests and help create a welcoming, friendly atmosphere

We need help with "day-to-day" activities:
1. Weekly classes and clubs – unlocking and locking
2. Emergency Exit Lighting needs testing and recording once a month
3. Fire Alarm System test and record once per week
4. Contractors – liaison as required i.e. Cathedral Hygiene visit, Bryland Fire Service visits
5. Utilities – Gas, electric and water
6. Bar servicing – Liaise with suppliers, stock checking and cleaning cellar beer pipes

𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔
For the physical survival of the hall, we need to repair, refurbish and modernise many areas across the whole building.

1. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 local tradespeople and suppliers to gather work quotes
2. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬 options to ensure value, quality, and suitability
3. 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 with contractors once work is agreed
4. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬 queries and helps keep jobs on schedule
5. 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐬 strong communication and organisation skills
6. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 the hall’s upkeep and visible improvements
7. 𝐋𝐢𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 with Jubilee Hall committee for approval

Volunteering to help arrange and organise events and activities is a rewarding way to bring people together and make the hall a busy, welcoming part of community life. And they do not have to be large or complicated.

Flexibility is the key to this team’s success, shared between several volunteers, with everyone contributing in a way that suits their time, confidence and skills.

Getting involved booking live entertainment for the community to enjoy.

𝐴𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑂𝑟𝑔𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑠𝑒𝑟
Our village hall can be used for such a wide variety of activities to bring our community together. Coffee mornings, children’s activities, fairs, quiz nights, craft sessions, lunches, open days, fundraising events, family events, bingo, the list is almost endless.
Parents – A marvellous opportunity to build family activities!
Children’s activities – especially in the school holidays

1. 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 by helping make Jubilee Hall a lively, welcoming community space
2. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: suggest ideas, contact stallholders/entertainers, organise “the details”
3. 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: contribute according to your time, confidence, and skills
4. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 by creating opportunities for all ages to meet and take part
5. 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 — helping organise logistics and resources for community events
6. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 — working with our “marketing team” provide information for regular updates on our website, social media platforms, flyers, and signage across the local area
7. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥: working with other volunteers, ensure the hall is set up and ready for the “event”
8. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲: If required, welcome visitors and keep things running smoothly
9. 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 — increasing visibility of Jubilee Hall and encouraging wider community engagement

A club could be something simple and friendly, such as a knit and natter group, a book club, a children’s club, or another activity that encourages people to meet, chat, learn, and enjoy time together.

This role can be shaped around the interests, skills, and time a volunteer has to offer. Whether it is a regular group or an occasional activity, running a club helps create opportunities for children, adults, and older people to use the hall, build friendships, and feel part of the community.

🐶 6pm – Puppies aged 10 months and under
🐕 7pm – Older dogs aged 10 months and over

The Paws to Progress course covers essential everyday skills using positive, force-free training methods. Classes are intentionally kept small, allowing every dog and owner to receive individual guidance.

Volunteers do not need to be technical experts. Anyone who is confident using a computer, phone, social media, or basic online tools can make a real difference. The role can be shared between several people and shaped around the time and skills each volunteer has to offer, whether that means posting occasional updates, checking information on the website, or helping promote events and activities.

Do you enjoy using Facebook, X, Instagram etc. Well, here’s your chance to put these skills and enthusiasm to great use.
