Yesterday was a very sad day for the angling community, and particularly poignant for us, as it was arguably the exploits of Peter Springate that put Wraysbury on the map, whilst fishing down in this corner of the valley.
We felt it diligent to let everyone, who knew him far better, have their say first, but we were honoured to have the opportunity to invite him back to fish on the north lake a couple of seasons ago - a nicer man you couldn't wish to meet!
Inspirational in many ways, he was the conduit between the main eras of carp fishing, lighting the fires in many a belly of those now pushing on into their later years themselves...
Icon is a term oft-bandied about too readily, but in this case, it's totally befitting of the man.
Rest easy, 'Sir' Pete.
