A STATEMENT FROM ADRIAN
The election results on Thursday were disappointing both for me personally and the Labour Party. I would like to express my thanks to those people who voted for me and the support I have received from friends and Members alike. Above all, a huge personal thank you to Christine for her unwavering support, not only during the election, but through what has been a very difficult few years.
I have always tried to represent the Ward to the best of my ability, in a positive way, by bringing people together to create stronger communities. I am proud of my achievements, whether that be the regeneration of Stalybridge, raising residents’ concerns as part of the planning process, protecting the green belt or working with local people to improve services on Ridgehill. I couldn't have done this without the support of fellow Councillors, past and present, Council officers, groups, other agencies and above all local residents.
We face huge challenges in Tameside from poverty, poor health outcomes and increasingly from the impacts of climate change.
I am convinced that collective action based on socialist principles is the only way to combat these issues and improve people's lives.
Let's work together to achieve this and to combat division.
