Parish Council meetings take place on the second Monday of every month and you are very welcome to

join us and speak during the 'Public Participation' slot. Meetings start at 7.30 pm and the agenda and location - which sometimes vary - are displayed on the Parish Council Notice Boards, in our Parish magazine 'The Link' and on this page.

Please join us next Sunday (30th of August) for our annual summer fair, there will be food, fun, stalls and entertainment.

11am until 4pm

We have sadly had to make the decision to close the Overflow Car Park until further notice. This is not a decision that the Parish Council has taken lightly.

Due to reports of travellers near Gate Helmsley and camping on community fields across York, we have taken the decision to secure the field to protect the residents who live closest. We expect this to be in place during the Ebor festival a short period afterwards.

We will continue to monitor the situation and open the overflow car park as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvience caused and our main aim is open the car park when it is safe to do so.

📣 We have a vacancy for a parish councillor and are looking to fill the post by co-option.

Are you over 18 and interested in village life and feel you could contribute? You will need to be available on the second Monday of each month for Parish Council meetings and we also have a few major events mainly at weekends throughout the year which we will require councillors to available to assist with.

If this sounds like something you are interested in then, please email our Clerk at [email protected]. Our Clerk will be able to give your more information about the role and next steps on the co-option process.

A vehicle has unfortunately been left in the over flow car park after the gates were locked at 7pm.

If this is your car, please don’t worry! You can contact us on the phone number on the sign and we can arrange for the gate to be opened.

We’ve received an update from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Highway Maintenance team regarding the yellow hatched boxes which are missing following the recent resurfacing of Main Street.

They have advised that the remaining hatched road markings are due to be installed this week, although this will depend on traffic levels during the day. If it is not possible to complete the work safely during daytime hours, they have advised that it will instead be carried out during night works next week.

So we are hoping for a positive resolution for his in the coming days.

We share residents frustration about the length of time it has taken to get this update and the works completed. We do urge residents and those local to our village, and those who know the route well to please be respectful of the junctions while we wait for the yellow boxes to be restored.
