The Wayfinder Trail will be officially unveiled on Saturday 11 July at 1.30pm by the much‑loved poet Pam Ayres, who has written a celebratory poem for the occasion, at the start of the village’s Summer Festival. The trail features 19 beautifully crafted stones, each set with an inlaid mosaic telling a different chapter of the village’s rich history. From local legends to landmark moments, the trail invites residents and visitors alike to explore the stories that shaped the community. Be sure to stop by the Parish Council stand during the festival to discover more about the project and pick up a commemorative bag to celebrate this special occasion.

The Parish Council does not use weedkiller - we use a weedburner on footpaths around the village. On 29th April we were made aware that someone had been spraying weedkiller on some footpaths and pavements around the village. This was not us, OCC, contractors or any public body. It is illegal to spray weedkiller in public places without a licence. I received one report on 30th April that a lady had been seen spraying on Chapel Road, but we were unable to find or identify them. As far as we know, no further spraying has taken place. Advance warning - overnight closure of the A417 from Stanford to Faringdon from 1st to 6th June for works at Shellingford Crossroads. Although the TTRO says closure from Ware Road Roundabout, I have been assured the following:

"There will be a soft closure at the Ware Rd Rbt stating “Road Closed Ahead / Access Only”. This roundabout is the only suitable place to turn HGV traffic. We will be putting extensive advance warning signs further afield to pick up haulage and long distance traffic before it gets here though.

Access will be provided for residents of the village up as far as Cottage Road; at this point there will be a hard closure with barrier and vehicles physically preventing any further northbound traffic completely, with signage stating “Road Closed” Access will be maintained out of Cottage Rd and Joyces Road down towards the roundabout only.
Gatemen will be on hand to assist throughout at both the Roundabout and at Cottage Road."

The A417 from High Street - Goosey will be closed between 11-15 May during daytime, this time to seal the new surface. As before, it is not expected to be closed for the entire week, as the work is expected to take 1-2 days; we just don't know which ones.

The A417 from High Street will be closed from 9pm-5am on April 29th for sewer cleaning. (It will also be closed during the day due to other ongoing roadworks posted separately).

The A417 from High Street - Goosey turning will be closed from 4am-6pm (i.e. during the day) from 27 April to 1 May inclusive for surface dressing works.

A section of Bow Road will be closed at the Chapel Road end for up to 3 weeks from April 13th for Thames Water to investigate issues with the culvert, with only access to properties granted. Attached is the map of the closure and diversion.
