🚨Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update🚨

Here’s a brief overview of this weeks recent activity from your local Neighbourhood Policing Team;

🚗 After being alerted to an intoxicated male, behind the wheel of a car by Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens - North, NPT officers arrested the male on scene and transported him to custody.

🗣️ PCSOs attended a community drop in at Tanfield Lea Community Centre and engaged with members of the public regarding issues in the area.

🔪 After reports of a fight involving weapons, officers attended the area and arrested one male for multiple offences including possession of an offensive weapon. Enquiries are ongoing into this incident.

🏍️ Officers have attended multiple incidents of off road bikes or quads being rode on roads and in a dangerous manner. Officers have pursued one bike and utilised their drone to try and locate and follow two quads that were reported. Enquiries are ongoing into all instances.

👮‍♂️ Your Neighbourhood Team attended the Armed Forces Day Flag Raising on Stanley Front Street, as organised by Stanley Town Council.

🚨 NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING WEEK – DAY 4 🚨
As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, we’re continuing to highlight the work of our beat teams serving your local area 👮‍♂️
Neighbourhood Officers and PCSOs are regularly out in the community, engaging with residents and tackling the issues that matter most.
🔹 NPT officers worked with the Fire Service to arrange for fire safety bags to be installed to protect a vulnerable resident.
🔹 NPT PCSOs attended Asda alongside Durham Council Street Wardens to engage with members of the local community.
🔹 PC 2800 Combe interviewed a suspect in relation to a stolen motorcycle; the individual will now be referred to the Youth Offending Team.
🔹 Officers attended Burnside Community Centre with residents from Ladysmith Court to discuss community problem-solving.
🔹 Additional high-visibility foot patrols were carried out in South Moor.

🚨 NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING WEEK – DAY 3 🚨
As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, we’re continuing to highlight the work of our beat teams who serve your local area 👮‍♂️
Neighbourhood Officers and PCSOs are regularly out in the community, engaging with residents and tackling the issues that matter most.
🔹 Your Neighbourhood Team attended a PACT meeting at Craghead Village Hall this evening.
🔹 NPT PCSOs have attended a Safeguarding & ASB meeting at North Durham Academy.
🔹 PC 9405 Dean dealt with a shoplifting offence captured on CCTV. The female has been dealt with and her parents informed.
🔹 Patrols were carried out in Catchgate following reports of anti-social behaviour. One youth was taken home and his parents informed.
🔹 Additional patrols were conducted in Wear Road, South Stanley and Kip Hill after further reports of youth-related ASB.
🔹 NPT officers attended a report of two horses loose on the A6076. With assistance from members of the public, the horses were safely guided into a nearby field to await their owner.

⚽️Tonight’s the night!

For all you England fans, we know you’ll be gearing up for the excitement of the first England game.

Some of you will enjoy the game, have a great time and get home safely.

Some of you will get too drunk, take illegal drugs (or both) and put yourself or someone you love in the morgue after wrongly thinking you’re fine to drive.

We’re not being dramatic; this is the reality our officers see with a 20.9 per cent spike in road traffic collisions on England match days from 2016 to 2024.

That’s why we’ve launched a specific road safety campaign for this world cup.

Teaming up with our emergency service partners last week, we invited media outlets a road traffic collision demonstration.

They were able to see someone being cut out of a crashed car and bring it to your teatime screens on BBC Look North.

What they didn’t see are the death knocks our officers have to make when the people in the car can’t be saved.

Or when the driver is in court, then prison, for killing their mates.
All because they thought it was fine to drive under the influence or couldn’t be bothered to book a taxi.

We don’t want to see you sent off permanently before you can even say penalties.

🚨NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING WEEK🚨

Today officers from your local Neighbourhood Policing team have been out across the Stanley area, completing Community Speedwatch, on the back of concerns raised by the community.

Community Speedwatch is an educational tool used by officers and volunteers, to educate and advise motorists on their speed.

Speeding is one of the fatal four offences - one of the leading causes of fatalities on our roads. This activity aims to deter drivers from speeding to keep our communities safe.

We witnessed over 500 vehicles, with 16 vehicles found to be speeding at over 35mph. These drivers will be issued with a warning letter.

🚓 Neighbourhood Policing Update 🚓

This week, officers have been busy working across our local communities:

🚗An abandoned vehicle, found to have no tax, MOT or insurance, was located and recovered in Annfield Plain.

🫖Officers attended a coffee morning in Dipton, as well as a PACT meeting covering Dipton and Burnopfield, providing members of the community with an opportunity to raise local concerns.

📄PCSOs have supported a number of ongoing investigations by obtaining CCTV evidence in relation to incidents of anti-social behaviour and shoplifting, in addition to maintaining a visible presence within the community through patrol activity.

🚔A male has been interviewed in the Northumbria area in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle from Annfield Plain. Enquiries remain ongoing.

🏍️A stolen scooter was recovered in the South Moor area within 24 hours of being reported. A juvenile suspect has been identified and will be dealt with accordingly.

🍕Officers attended the food market in Stanley to engage with members of the public and provide reassurance.

🔎 Assistance was provided to response colleagues in relation to a burglary, during which a suspect was located, arrested and taken into custody. A drone was deployed to support enquiries.

👮‍♀️Officers also attended a number of reports of anti-social behaviour in the town centre. Work is ongoing to identify those responsible.

🚶‍♂️PCSO Greener conducted a joint walkaround in East Stanley with Jack Appleyard from Karbon Homes, Councillor Walton and the street wardens.

Due to a road traffic collision the A693 is closed between the junction with A692 and the cross roads at East Castle House.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route. Thank you for your patience.

🔵Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update🔵

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been out across Stanley this week, working to support the community and tackle local issues:

🚗PCSO Wilson attended Burnopfield Primary School with DCC Road Safety Team to talk to the whole school about the need for parents/carers to park safely near the school. Key Stage 2 children also had a presentation on the dangers and law around riding electric scooters (please see attached information on E-Scooters in photos)

🕵️‍♀️A vehicle which had been reported stolen from the Peterlee area was located in Stanley town centre. The vehicle was recovered. Enquiries are ongoing.

🔎This week our PCSOs have been obtaining CCTV and conducting house to house enquiries to gather vital evidence for ongoing investigations.

🚨Stanley NPT officers assisted traffic with a pursuit of a male who was driving a stolen motor vehicle. The male was arrested for dangerous driving, theft of motor vehicle and failing the roadside breath test.

👮‍♂️Officers responded to a theft in progress at Asda, Stanley. Two suspects were successfully arrested, and the stolen items recovered. One male was also wanted by Northumbria Police for offences in their area. Both have been charged and will attend court for sentencing.

🚔Officers assisted response officers with an incident of Affray in South Moor, two males were arrested for the offence. One male had assaulted three police officers.

🚒PCSO Dawson attended a multi-agency meeting with the Fire Brigade discussing deliberate secondary fires and tactics around reducing the number of incidents.

🚨3 prolific shoplifters have been charged and will appear in court. One shoplifter was also found in possession of controlled substances and has been reported for the offence.

🚓A vehicle was seized from the Tanfield area due to the driver having no licence or insurance. The driver has been reported for the offences.

🚨Safeguarding our community
Stanley NPT officers have attended an incident in the Hobson industrial estate where it was reported a man was using violence towards others and committing criminal damage. The suspect was swiftly located and arrested and found to be in possession of drugs. Enquiries are ongoing.

🕵️‍♀️We are currently investigating several reports of youth antisocial behaviour in Stanley Town Centre. We understand the impact this has on our retailers and the whole community and want to reassure residents and retailers that this behaviour will not be tolerated. Work is ongoing to identify those responsible.
