🚓Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update 🚓

Here is a brief update of what your Neighbourhood Officers have been up to over the past week;

đź‘®PCSOs have been carrying out regular patrols at local schools in response to ongoing parking concerns. Officers have been engaging with parents and motorists, promoting safe and considerate parking to help improve road safety for pupils, parents, and school staff.

🚨The Neighbourhood Policing Team successfully located a wanted individual who had previously failed to appear at court. The female was dealt with by officers and taken into custody.

🏍PCs are currently dealing with a youth in relation to a number of traffic offences. Enquiries have been completed and appropriate action is being taken.

📸 PCSOs have undertaken extensive CCTV enquiries in relation to an ongoing investigation.

đź‘ŹWhile conducting house-to-house enquiries in relation to a separate incident, PCSOs discovered a cannabis grow at a residential address. The male involved was dealt with by officers, issued with the appropriate disposal, and the cannabis plants were seized and destroyed.

đź‘®PCSOs attended the New Kyo Rewind and Restore this week, where they enjoyed speaking with residents.

🏍NPT officers recovered a stolen motorbike from an address in Dipton following multiple intelligence reports received from the local community. Officers attended the address, located the vehicle and arranged for its recovery.

đź‘ŹPCSOs assisted officers from Chester NPT and Consett NPT following the discovery of a large cannabis grow within the Chester Le Street area. Working alongside colleagues, officers helped secure the premises, gather evidence and dismantle the cultivation.

🏍️ Targeting Off Road Bikes & Illegal E-Scooters 🛴

On Friday our colleagues from Bike Section (Durham Roads & Armed Policing) came over to our area, as requested by Stanley Neighbourhood Team, to assist with tackling dangerous drivers on off road bikes and illegal e-scooters.

These vehicles are often being driven in a dangerous manner, on public roads or pedestrian areas, putting members of the public and other road users at risk.

During their visit, three vehicles were stopped and seized - two off road motorbikes and one e-scooter. All riders will be dealt with accordingly for offences.

Another youth who was sighted flying along a pedestrian area on an e-scooter yesterday, was stopped by Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens - North. Officers from Stanley Neighbourhood Team attended and dealt with the youth, alongside parents, before they were taken home.

We know there are still many more out there, and we will continue to target them whenever possible. We understand the frustration from the community regarding this ongoing issue, and are doing the utmost, within our powers, to tackle it.

🚓 Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update 🚓

Here is a brief update of what your Neighbourhood Officers have been up to over the past week or so;

đź‘® PCSOs carried out a school visit in response to concerns regarding parking around the school site. During the visit, they engaged with motorists and provided advice on safe and considerate parking in order to improve road safety for pupils, parents, and local residents.

🚨 A multi-agency meeting was held in regards to the Crown & Thistle empty building in Catchgate. In attendance alongside ourselves were Durham County Council, Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens - North, Community Safety Coordinator Daniels and Local Councillors.

🚨 PC Thorburn and PCSO Dawson caught a male shoplifting during foot patrols of local retail premises. The male was transported to custody and has been charged for the offence.
PCSO Bell, while out on foot patrol, also stopped a suspected shoplifter who was putting items in their pockets whilst in store. They were dealt with at scene for the offence.

đź‘® PCSOs also conducted foot patrols in the area, speaking with members of the public about ongoing concerns relating to off-road bikes. Reassurance was provided, and information was gathered to help develop intelligence and support ongoing efforts to tackle the issue.

đź‘® PCSOs met with representatives from DASH to discuss support options for an elderly male who may be vulnerable and in need of additional assistance.
The meeting focused on identifying appropriate services and ensuring the individual receives the support required to improve their wellbeing and maintain their independence.
Multi-agency working will continue to ensure the best possible outcome for the resident.

đźš’ Your Neighbourhood Team attended a large fire in the Greencroft area after being alerted by local residents. A cordon was put in place around the area whilst our colleagues at County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service efficiently extinguished the fire.

đźš“ PCSOs assisted with a road closure following a road traffic collision in Burnopfield. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries and those involved attended hospital to be checked over.

Officers are appealing for information after a motorcycle was stolen from Mendip Terrace, Stanley, between 10pm on 20/09/2026 and 9:50am on 21/09/2026. The motorcycle was a Lexmoto, registration WH75 GKE, which is pictured below.

We are asking residents and businesses in the area to check any CCTV, doorbell cameras, or dashcam footage for the motorcycle, as well as any suspicious vehicles or individuals seen during the times stated.

🚓 Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update 🚓

Here is a brief update of what your Neighbourhood Officers have been up to over the past week;

đź‘®PCSOs have been conducting reassurance patrols and carrying out a community letter drop across the Stanley area in response to the recent fires. The patrols have provided a visible police presence within the community and offered residents crime prevention and safety advice.

🚨PCs dealt with a theft incident in Tantobie. The suspect was identified and subsequently located. Following enquiries, the suspect was dealt with by way of a Community Resolution. All relevant parties were informed, and the matter has now been resolved.

🚨PC assisted Response officers with a domestic violence and criminal damage incident. Following attendance and enquiries at the scene, the male suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

đź‘® PCSOs have completed extensive CCTV enquiries in relation to a burglary in the Tanfield area. Officers have reviewed footage from multiple locations to assist with identifying potential suspects and establishing lines of enquiry. The investigation remains ongoing.

đź‘® PCSOs have continued to carry out regular school patrols throughout the area, engaging with students, staff, and parents while providing a reassuring presence during peak school hours.

đźš“ PCSOs assisted Roads Policing Officers with a road closure following a road traffic collision (RTC). Traffic management measures were put in place to ensure the safety of road users and emergency service personnel. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, and all parties involved were safe.

🔍PCSO attended and assisted with scene preservation duties, helping to secure the area and maintain the integrity of potential evidence while enquiries were carried out.

Last week we teamed up with partner forces and agencies to carry out targeted strikes on those who mistakenly think our rural communities are an easy target.

Highlights included:
đź‘ŠA Ford Mondeo that was suspected to have been involved in burglaries in the Carlisle area and believed to be operating in the Crook area on three different number plates was found hidden in a garage by patrolling PCSOs Robson and Clark. Crook NPT and Response officers subsequently seized the vehicle and arrested two suspects as well as recovering ÂŁ3k in cash. An investigation is ongoing.
đź‘ŠA horse box stolen in the Cumbria area was recovered in Sunniside within 24 hours and one man arrested on suspicion of theft. It turns out he was also wanted for he**in drugs offences and a subsequent search of his address uncovered further Class A drugs, a he**in press and suspected stolen power tools.
đź‘ŠTwo trailers, one believed to have been stolen during a burglary in Selkirk and one confirmed stolen from Warrington 17 years ago, were also recovered and dealt with by officers from Barnard Castle NPT.
đź‘ŠA stolen caravan from the Avon and Somerset area was located in Streetlam, Barnard Castle after officers used the force drone to track it. The rightful owner has been notified and the caravan will be returned.

Teams across the force also took part Operation Checkpoint, which sees officers team up with our Rurali groups to stop suspicious vehicles and individuals, intercepting criminals and even some of our Rurali members, who were happy to be stopped.

Prevention work continued with the launch of our new SelectaDNA scheme at Wolsingham and Stanhope Agricultural Shows.

Other items on offer were safer homes kits, locks, alarms and stop me stickers, supported by the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner. Officers who attended the events all did so on their rest days to support the project.

This work and our commitment to our rural residents continues all-year-round.

đź‘®Officers will also be attending Eggleston Agricultural Show on Saturday, September 19. Please come and say hello. We will be issuing SelectaDNA kits to farm residents across Teesdale, just bring proof of address or utility bill.

🚓Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update 🚓

Here is a brief update of what your Neighbourhood Officers have been up to over the past week;

👮‍♂️PCSOs attended an event at South Stanley Junior School, engaging with pupils, staff, and members of the local community.

đźš“ PCSOs also assisted with a road closure following a road traffic collision. The collision resulted in electrical wires being brought down into the roadway, creating a significant hazard to road users and pedestrians. Officers helped maintain the road closure, managed traffic disruption, and ensured public safety while engineers from Northern Powergrid attended the scene to make the area safe and carry out the necessary repairs.

🚨Stanley NPT assisted officers from Consett Neighbourhood Team locate a vehicle which was being driven on cloned plates. The vehicle was successfully stung and brought to a safe stop. The 17-year-old driver was only in possession of a provisional licence and has been reported for several driving offences.

đźš“ Keeping the Roads Safe - This week, officers have stop checked several vehicles. A number of these vehicles were seized, and the drivers have been reported for the relevant driving offences.
Drivers have been reported for exceeding the drug drive limit, driving with no insurance and having no licence. One driver was found to be in possession of an offensive weapon and was subsequently arrested. One driver was stopped due to their manner of driving and has been reported for careless driving.

🚌 Following community concerns, PCSOs have attended some of the schools in Stanley with civil enforcement officers to tackle on going parking issues around school entrances. One driver was given advice around the importance of safe parking outside of schools. The schools visited this week by our PCSOs were Burnside Primary school , South Stanley infants and Junior school and Greenland Community Primary School.

🕵️‍♀️A mobility scooter, which had been reported stolen, was located in West Kyo. The investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for the theft.

đźš’A male has been arrested for Arson; enquiries are still ongoing.

👮‍♀️As part of Rural Crime Week, officers attended Lanchester Garden Centre alongside Community Safety Officers from the PCC's office. Late night rural patrols were also conducted for Operation Checkpoint, where suspicious vehicles were checked.

🔎 PCSOs have completed extensive CCTV enquiries for a high value burglary in the Tanfield area. An investigation is ongoing.

👮‍♀️Your Neighbourhood Officers attended a drop in at Tanfield Community Centre during their Lunch Club.

PCSOs conducted a number of hours of high-visibility foot patrols across their local communities. These patrols focused on areas identified through community concerns and recent reports, providing reassurance to residents, engaging with members of the public.

⚖️A disqualified driver who drove at speeds of more than 120mph in pedestrian zones has been jailed.

Bilal Havid was clocked by DRAP PCs Murphy and Gears as they patrolled Chester-le-Street in the early hours of Saturday, June 5.

The 33-year-old sped past the officers in a BMW M4 Competition and a pursuit ensued where Havid reached speeds of more than 120mph in 30mph zones.

The pursuit was deemed too dangerous to continue and the BMW was lost but 20 minutes later, Bilal was caught on CCTV hiding in an alleyway near the Co-op store in Pelton.

Officers swiftly arrested him and took him into custody where he claimed he had been waiting for a woman and denied being the driver.

Havid, of West Pelton, was subsequently charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and having no insurance.

He pleaded guilty to all charges when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday (September 7) where he was jailed for one year and five-and-a-half months and disqualified from driving for another three years.

🗣️Strategic Roads Policing Inspector Andy Howarth said: “Havid’s manner of driving was extremely dangerous and thankfully no members of the public came to any harm during this incident.

“We are happy to see he is behind bars and the roads of County Durham and Darlington are safer for it.”

Officers have been speaking with residents, gathering information, identifying potential witnesses, and offering reassurance to those affected as part of ongoing investigations.

đź‘®PCSOs attended a local school to support ongoing work around road safety. Officers spoke with parents and carers about parking responsibly and highlighted the issues caused by vehicles stopping on double yellow lines, helping to keep the area safe for pupils and other road users.
