THIS SATURDAY ........ coffee and cake as a shopping break..... before the Hemlock Happening perhaps. We've a few stalls, home gifts, jumble and plants and we hope to build this monthly coffee morning over time. There will always be a Town Councillor at the coffee morning in case you have any queries about our projects and activities. Look forward to seeing you there. 10am-12noon every first Saturday of the month (bar August and January). Kindest regards

We are delighted to hear we are finalists in the Boots & Berets Awards for 2026, with our History of the Fallen Project. We are delighted that Stapleford has been recognised.

The images and banner flags featuring our WWII fallen soldiers definitely caused a stir when displayed in full for the first time in November 2025 (which will become an annual extra for our Remembrance Sunday event).

And now the banners/plaques have been recognised as a fabulous commemorative project. Of course we must also thank UKSPF and Broxtowe Towns Fund for match funds with the Town Council, to make this wonderful project a reality.

Our new Mayor Cllr Simon Frost, and project initiator and researcher Cllr Lorraine Longford, videoed their thoughts on being shortlisted (see video below)

Free Sharps Box Collections Available for Broxtowe Residents.

Residents across Broxtowe Borough can access a free clinical waste and sharps box collection service to help safely dispose of needles, syringes, and other medical sharps from their home.

If you or someone you care for uses a sharps box, it is important that these items are disposed of correctly to protect your family, refuse workers, and the wider community.

How to Arrange a Sharps Collection.

To use the service, residents must first complete a Sharps Collection Proforma and return it to the council. Once registered, collections can then be booked when needed. Sharps Collection Proforma Form:https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/media/dmonvt50/sharps-collection-form.pdf

The form asks for:
Name and address
Contact details
Where the sharps box will be left for collection
Any additional relevant information Important

Collection Information Collections currently take place on Thursdays.

Sharps boxes must be placed out by 6:30am on collection day

Residents should ring 0115 917 7777 at least one week in advance to arrange a collection

Collection slots can be limited, so early booking is advised

Replacement Sharps Boxes.

Replacement sharps containers are not supplied by the council.

New sharps boxes should be obtained directly from your:

GP surgery
NHS healthcare professional
Community nurse
Local pharmacy (where available)
Some GP surgeries and pharmacies may also operate local drop-off or exchange schemes, so it is worth asking what services are available in your area.

Important Reminder Sharps and clinical healthcare waste must not be placed in household bins or taken to Household Waste and Recycling Centres.

Correct disposal helps keep everyone safe and ensures hazardous waste is handled properly.

For further information contact or telephone 0115 917 7777.
