Benington Recreation committee are looking for new Trustees to form the committee for 2026, the current trustees are stepping down from there roles at the next AGM due to other commitments and we are looking for new people to take the recreation ground project on.

For those new to the village the committee would be looking at ways to complete the existing framework that is on the playing field and look at funding towards the park area, if you are interested in joining then please contact Richard Bott or send a message to us. The next AGM will take place in December and a date will be posted nearer the time.

Unfortunately if there is not a new committee formed then the project will cease so as the saying goes YOUR VILLAGE NEEDS YOU!

Just a heads up that at some point in November we will have a work party at the Rec to reinstate the wire fence along the back edge of the grounds.
And as part of the Queens canopy campaign we have been granted a large number of bushes to improve the look and biodiversity of the recreation ground.
We will organise a day or weekend where anyone can pop along and help plant the bushes and reinstate the fence.
We hopefully plan to offer refreshment's on the day as well.

Unfortunately we have to announce that it seems unviable to hold the fireworks display as planned this weekend.
Therefore we have taken the decision to postpone the event.
The weather forecast is not good and we need to give as much notice as possible.
We intend to have the display at a later date and will advise as soon as it seems realistic to do so.
We are sorry to cause disappointment but it does look like it will be better for all to remain warm and dry indoors.
