Circular Communities Scotland Empowering Scottish Communities to Deliver a Circular Economy

Circular Communities Scotland is a membership organisation dedicated to supporting the establishment of a circular economy in Scotland. We represent and support repair, reuse and recycling charities and social enterprises across the country. Our members prevent valuable products and materials from ending up in landfill, create local jobs, economic opportunities, and help promote and create social

and environmental justice in their communities. Circular Communities Scotland also supports our projects, the Share and Repair Network and our Reuse Consortium.

Circular Communities Scotland's Reuse Consortium surpassed one million pounds in trading for the first time - as shown in our 2025-2026 Reuse Consortium Annual Impact Report.

Our buyers and members have helped contribute our biggest year of trading so far, working to provide high quality reuse furniture across Scotland and helping to create social and environmental justice for communities.

Reuse Consortium Officer Alysha Cross says:
“I want to take this opportunity to thank our Consortium members, buyers, and Scotland Excel for making this programme possible. Behind the impact report is a whole year of people going above and beyond for their communities.”

We asked our members and you responded!

Over 100 circular charities in Scotland told us the key challenges they’re facing.

Circular Communities Scotland is pleased to share findings from our recent membership survey, designed to help us listen to our members, inform our future policy campaigning work and better understand the key challenges our sector is currently facing.

We’d like to thank every member who responded to the survey, working to have their voices heard, exhibit their expertise and commit to shaping a strong future for Scotland’s circular third sector.

Take a look at our infographic below to see the key issues our members are facing.

A huge congratulations to our member The Edinburgh Remakery - which was awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development this month.

One of only 185 organisations in the UK, one of only 8 organisations in Scotland and the only social enterprise in Scotland recognised this year - Circular Communities Scotland would like to send our congratulations to the entire The Edinburgh Remakery team.

The Edinburgh Remakery says "We often say we work “one laptop at a time”, but what we really mean is this: change happens in small, repeatable acts that compound into something much larger than us. This award is also a reminder that sustainability is not a side project. It is not a trend. It is a choice about what kind of economy we want to build, and who we want it to serve. A circular economy only works when it is also a human one."
