The UK government plans to invest up to Β£1 billion π· in community-owned renewable energy through GB Energy. That includes biomass heating for schools, care homes, leisure centres, and district heating networks.
Around 1,000 local clean energy projects could benefit, with communities keeping the financial returns locally rather than profits going to large energy companies.
For rural and off-grid areas especially, biomass offers consistent, reliable heat where solar and wind can't always deliver π₯
