Shared Lives is a scheme that supports adults with additional needs including those with a learning disability, mental health problems or other needs that make it harder for them to live on their own.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the launch of Home & Heart, our new Shared Lives peer support group, during Shared Lives Week 2026 💜

It was a fantastic morning with great conversations, shared experiences, and plenty of support in the room.

We’re so pleased to see it get off to such a positive start and look forward to welcoming you all again!

💜 Lighting Up Purple for Shared Lives Week 💜

Today (Monday 15 June), we’re proud to see Newport Bridge, Stockton Riverside and Stockton Town Centre lit up in purple in support of Shared Lives Week ✨

🫶 Shared Lives matches adults with additional needs with approved carers, offering support in a home environment to help people live as independently as possible. It’s care that’s built on relationships, trust and community.

🤝 This year also marks four years of Shared Lives in Stockton-on-Tees, and the theme “Shout about Shared Lives – care worth talking about” is all about raising awareness and helping more people discover the difference this service can make.

🏡 To celebrate, we’re excited to launch our brand-new Home and Heart Peer Support Group at the LiveWell Hub in Thornaby tomorrow (Tuesday 16 June) from 10.30am.

🥰 This friendly and supportive group is open to existing Shared Lives carers and cared for as well as anyone interested in becoming a carer, a great opportunity to meet others, share experiences and find out more.

💜 Today (Monday 15, June), we’re lighting up Newport Bridge, Stockton Riverside and Stockton Town Centre in purple in support of Shared Lives Week.

🫶 Shared Lives carers matches adults with additional needs to an approved carer, who helps support them live independently.

🤝 Celebrating its four-year anniversary in the Borough, the theme this year is ‘Shout about Shared Lives – care worth talking about’ - to raise awareness of Shared Lives so that everyone can get involved and learn more.

🏡 To celebrate Shared Lives Week, Stockton-on-Tees Shared Lives are launching their brand-new Home and Heart Peer Support Group at the LiveWell Hub in Thornaby tomorrow (16 June) from 10.30am.

🥰 The group, which is designed to bring people together in a friendly, supportive environment is open to existing Shared Lives carers or anyone interested in becoming a carer.

💙 We’re excited to celebrate Shared Lives Week 2026 (15 - 21 June) with the launch of our brand new Home and Heart Peer Support Group in Stockton-on-Tees.

This welcoming group is designed to bring people together in a friendly, supportive environment where you can:

💡 Share helpful tips, resources and experiences
❤️ Talk openly about challenges and celebrate the good days

🥶 The Met Office has issued further yellow weather warnings for snow and ice over the weekend between 4pm this evening (Friday, 13 February) until 10am tomorrow (Saturday, 14 February) and also from 9pm on Saturday until 10am on Sunday (15 February).
