The incident occurred on the A67 at the junction with Long Lane near Kirklevington at around 1.45pm on Sunday 24 May and involved a black royal Alloy GP 350 motorbike and a red vehicle.

It was reported that the motorbike swerved to avoid the red vehicle before both the rider and passenger were ejected off the motorbike.

We hope you’re all enjoying the glorious weather we’ve been having recently – here’s how you can keep your homes safe and secure during the summer months. ☀️ 🔒

Burglars are often opportunistic thieves who look to take advantage of doors and windows that are left open, unlocked or are easy to force.

That’s why we’re urging residents to be vigilant in the hot weather and make sure they get into a habit of locking doors and keeping keys in a safe place.

Here’s what we recommend you do before you go out:

🪟 Close and lock all your doors and windows - even if you’re only going out for a few minutes
💍 Make sure that any valuables are out of sight
👜 Keep handbags away from the letterbox or cat flap and hide all keys including car keys, as a thief could hook keys or valuables through even a small opening
❌ Never leave car documents or ID in obvious places such as kitchens or hallways
💡 In the evening, shut the curtains and leave lights on
⏰ If you’re out all day, then it’s advisable to use a timer device to automatically turn lights and a radio on at night
🚨 Set your burglar alarm
🔐 Make sure the side gate is locked

As always, if you want to report any incidents or suspicious activity to us, please call 101 or you can report non-emergencies via our website.

We’re urging parents and carers to speak to their children about the dangers of throwing objects at vehicles following a number of incidents in Stockton.

Between Tuesday 26 May and Wednesday 27 May, we received reports of children throwing objects at buses causing the windows to smash.

Officers are continuing to conduct patrols and are making multiple enquiries however we’re also appealing directly to parents and carers to be aware of where their children are and what they are doing.

🗣️ Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Vickers said: “This kind of behaviour is extremely dangerous to other road users and pedestrians and can cause serious injuries as well as damage to vehicles.

“We would ask parents to support us by educating children about the dangers and consequences of such reckless behaviour. Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved and we’d encourage anyone with information to contact us on 101 or you can report online through our website.”

❗ Auckland Way Update - 7pm ❗

The cordons around Auckland Way that we mentioned earlier have now been lifted, residents are able to return to their properties. There has been no damage to property or injuries and we have made one arrest.

Al O’Donoghue, Stockton’s Local Policing Superintendent, said:

“At this stage, we are confident there is no wider risk to the community, and we have stood down the cordons around Auckland Way. Residents are now able to access their properties.

“I would like to thank our partners for their support, and residents for their understanding and patience. I am pleased to say this incident has not resulted in any injuries or damage to properties.

“We have made one arrest — a 29-year-old male — our investigations will continue this evening and tomorrow. This will include some specialist capabilities, including search dogs, but the public should be reassured that there is nothing to suggest any wider risks.”

We’re appealing for information or footage in relation to an incident earlier this evening, Friday 22 May, where a child was injured when she was hit by an electric scooter in Stockton.

The 4-year-old was knocked by the scooter as it mounted the kerb on Talbot Street in Stockton at 5:20pm, causing her to fall and hit her head. She was taken to hospital, where it was confirmed that thankfully she has no serious injuries, but does have a bump to her head.

The two boys on the scooter made off from the scene, but officers have since arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, drug driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

Officers are currently trying to trace the pillion passenger and locate the scooter.

Anyone with information on who the passenger is and where the scooter is, or anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage is asked to call 101 quoting reference SE26097415.
