This morning our critical care team had an early start after they were activated at 8.08am to reports of a road traffic collision on the A688 near Bowburn.

We had a paramedic and two doctors on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene within ten minutes.

Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to assess and treat a patient before they were taken to hospital 💚

🔥Burns Awareness Day🔥

In April 2024 Leigh Taylor was working at a brewery in Workington when he was engulfed by a fireball and badly burned in a violent blast.

He suffered 40 per cent burns and was put into a medically induced coma by our doctor and paramedic team before being airlifted to hospital.

Last year he decided to take on the challenge of riding the entire UK coastline on an e-trike with his dog, Taco, and is raising funds for our charity and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

So far, you've helped us raise £1.2 million of our £2.5 million target and we are so incredibly grateful 💚
