Folks, a heads up that we are contracting a tree surgeon to remove a large broken branch and generally tidy up, a large tree overhanging the parking area on Chestnut Crescent near the crossing. The work will be carried out next week, time and date to be confirmed but the area will need to be clear of vehicles on the day.

This is the updated road closure notice. It looks as though only the bridge itself will be shut (in red on the map) and that the road will be closed 7pm to 6am every night from 9th to 13th February.

Current state of the road. Please take care and drive slowly.

Latest update is: Working times will now be 19:00 – 06:00. However, if they find any civils works that need completing, this will need to be completed during the day. I have asked that any day works are completed under a lesser TM like traffic lights, as to reduce the effect on buses and access.

and after further enquiry: Due to the nature of these works, a full road closure is required [overnight] instead of temporary traffic lights. Operatives will need to work within the live lanes to access chambers and ensure they have a clear unobstructed alignment between chambers when installing the ducting. Having equipment and operatives in the road significantly restricts the available carriageway width and therefore poses as a safety risk.

We recognise the impact that having a road closure can have, but we’ll ensure that appropriate diversions and extensive consultation are in place prior to these works taking place.
