This week celebrates World Thinking Day.

World Thinking Day 2026 is a milestone year, marking the 100th anniversary of the global celebration. Celebrated annually on 22 February, the day unites approximately 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across 150 countries to celebrate international friendship and advocate for issues affecting girls and young women.

The date 22 February was chosen to honour the joint birthday of the movement's founders, Lord Baden-Powell and Lady Olave Baden-Powell. Who first started Scouting & Girl guiding.

The toy library has been decorated with Trefoils.

The trefoil is the universal symbol of Girlguiding and Girl Scouting, representing the three-fold Promise made by members worldwide.
The trefoil serves as the unifying logo

Three Leaves: Represent the three parts of the original Promise.

Central Vein: A compass needle pointing the way.
Two Stars: Represent the Promise and the Law.

The Base: Represents the "flame of the love of humanity".

Gold on Blue: Symbolises the sun shining over all the children of the world.

The rainbows promise 🌈

ANOTHER (not so) GENTLE REMINDER!

The toy library is exactly that, a TOY library, for good condition children's books & toys for the community to enjoy.

Please, please, please do not put, clothing, bric a brac and broken "tat" in the toy library.

Also please tape up any games & puzzles with loose pieces. (If the boxes fall on the floor and bits fall out, they are of no use to anyone).

Finally another reminder, to not leave donations in bags. Empty out bags so people can see what's in them. If the bags fall and the door is left open, even a little bit, then everything gets wet & ruined.

The toy library is looked after by local volunteers, who give up there own time to keep it neat and tody. If it continues to be left in this state, then unfortunately we will be left with no choice but to remove everything & stop the toy library for the local community to enjoy.

To celebrate Chinese new year the 2nd Stoke Gifford Rainbows have decorated the toy library with their "hand" made Chinese dragons.

This year marks the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse, which starts on February 17th. 🐎🔥

The Year of the Fire Horse is widely seen as a time for action, but also a time to manage the high-intensity energy it brings.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿To Celebrate Burns night on Sunday 25th January 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 the 2nd Stoke Gifford Rainbows have decorated the toy library with highland cows (or coos if your Scottish) 🌈

A desperate plea to the public about using the toy library. I volunteer to keep the toy library clean & tidy & usually check it 2 or 3 times a week.

Can I PLEASE, PLEASE ask you to stack books nearly, do not leave toys in bin bags ( people don't go through them) and please don't put clothes in the library.

There is a charity shop down the road & a clothes recycling bin outside St Michaels school. (The school will also appreciate any socks.)

England Rugby continues to grow the women's and girls’ game by expanding its partnership with Girlguiding regions across England.
With the expansion of this initiative, even more girls will have the opportunity to experience the game, build confidence, and develop skills both on and off the pitch
The 2nd Stoke Lodge Brownies are doing a love rugby badge for the womens rugby world cup and have decorated the Toy Library with some rugby themed decorations.

We have our door back and it looks fantastic. Thank you so much to Marco for all his hard work dismantling the door and re building.

It looks amazing. We just need to fix the door closer to stop it slamming shut... and give the rest of the box a repaint so it looks as good as the new door does.

Thanks to Marco we are well on the way to getting to Toy Library door fixed and the Toy Library open again....

Can anyone help by donating some wood or metal primer?.
