From Somerset council newsroom site:

❗️Update on industrial action, due to begin Wed 12 July.

We hope industrial action can be avoided and will try to minimise delays if it goes ahead, but there will be disruption and high numbers of missed collections across the county.

The best place for the latest updates on the strike and advice on how to manage when collections are missed is www.somerset.gov.uk/strike
Please visit it frequently as this is likely to change often.

Members of the Unite union, working on Somerset waste collections intend to strike on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, each week for the four weeks from Wednesday 12 July to Friday 4 August.

We will prioritise collections of refuse, clinical waste, waste from communal properties and schools, though these may still be disrupted.

There will be widespread missed recycling collections. We will do our best to ensure that everyone gets at least one recycling collection during the strike.

Continue to present your recycling and refuse on your usual collection days throughout the strike period – note extra possible collection days for homes scheduled to get recycling collections on Wednesday 12 July, Thursday 13 July, Friday 14 July and Friday 21 July only (see below).

Boxes, bags and bins must be out before 7am or the night before, even if your collection usually takes place later in the day – crews may be working routes differently.

All 16 of Somerset’s recycling sites will be open as usual and can take almost all the materials collected at the kerbside, as well as refuse as a last resort.

Industrial action could be called off as late as Tuesday 11 July 2023 – In that instance collections would operate as normal.

After four years in the role, I will be stepping down as Clerk to the PC to pursue my career.
It’s a wonderful job, you meet great people and no two days are ever the same.
The flexible hours have fitted perfectly around having small children - my youngest was a baby when I started!
No experience necessary, but good administration skills are an advantage. Please see the picture below for more details.
