ANSWERING YOUR FAQs !!!🤷♀️
1. Often a good place to start is to search student accommodation websites, such as Unihomes, Openrent, and Zoopla. On these websites you can quickly filter search results by number of rooms, bathrooms and nearby specific areas.
You can also find student properties through their own websites such as www.stokestudentproperties.co.uk or through their social media accounts, where they advertise rooms available.
2. In order to be exempt from paying council tax when living in a private student house/ property, eveyone living in the house must be a full time university student.
3. The term ‘BILLS INCLUDED’ means that your rent payment covers bills (usually gas, electricity, water and internet). With Stoke Student Properties, as a bonus our rent including bills also covers TV licence and broadband!
The benefits of ‘all bills included’ means consistent costs with no unpredictable spikes based on usage as well as no tracking necessary.
4. The majority of landlords in the UK will ask for a UK- based guarantor. This is a person who legally agrees to pay a tenant’s rent if they fail to pay their rent. Generally, this will be your parents or guardian. For international students or if you are unable to secure a guarantor, it is best to speak to your landlord or letting agent to reach a solution.
5. A ‘fully furnished’ student property, means that the house will be rented included facilities of a regular house.
It will usually cover an oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle in the kitchen. A washing machine may also be included in this.
In the bedrooms, this may cover the bed, bedside table, a desk, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers such as in Stoke Student Properties where all our houses come fully furnished.
