Autumn is putting on quite a show at Trentham! From vibrant seasonal colours to fascinating wildlife, there's plenty to discover on your next lakeside walk. 🧡

Here are five things to look out for...

🍁 Autumn colours – Enjoy the golden yellows of silver birch, bright red rowan berries and spectacular copper-orange shades of our beech trees!

🍄 Fly Agaric toadstools – With their bright red caps and white spots, these iconic mushrooms are hard to miss! Keep an eye out beneath birch trees, particularly around our Disc Golf course.

🦆 Tufted ducks – Numbers of these charming little ducks are increasing on the lake! Look out for their distinctive head tufts and the males' striking yellow eyes.

🌿 Moss & Lichen – As the leaves begin to fall, take a closer look at the fascinating mosses and lichens covering tree trunks, branches and stumps.

🦫 Beaver feeding signs – Our resident beaver family have been busy enjoying the hazel trees along the western side of the lake! Look out for their telltale gnaw marks and freshly cut stems. They're even helping our gardeners by naturally coppicing the hazel!

Today, we were delighted to welcome our Italian Garden designer Tom Stuart-Smith back to Trentham to see the latest progress on our Next Chapter project! 🌸

With Phase 1 already flourishing and Phase 2 well underway, it’s exciting to see Tom’s plans for a more resilient, sustainable and colourful garden coming to life. ✨

This ambitious transformation marks a new era of horticultural innovation at Trentham, creating beautiful planting displays that will thrive for generations to come! 🌱

SHAUN THE SHEEP IS AT TRENTHAM! 🐑

Get ready for a Find the Flock adventure as Shaun and his flock have taken over Trentham Gardens until 1 November!

Pick up your FREE activity pack and set off around the Gardens to find 12 giant Shaun the Sheep sculptures. Standing at 160cm tall and individually hand-painted by artists, each Shaun has a unique design to discover. 🎨🐑

A year ago, we planted this area of the gardens along the lakeside, below the Otters Carving, designed by the late Professor Nigel Dunnett.

Fast forward a year and look at it now! 🌱✨ The meadow is continuing to establish, creating a resilient space that supports pollinators and wildlife, while bringing beautiful autumn colours and textures to the lakeside. 🍂🦋

Did you know there are Highland cows at Trentham?! 🐮🌿

Our resident Highland cattle play an important role in helping us manage and care for the landscape at Trentham through conservation grazing.

Now you can get to know them a little better! Join one of our Wildlife Rangers for a relaxed walk through North Park, where you’ll discover more about the estate, wood pasture habitats and the role these magnificent animals play at Trentham.

And, of course, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to get a great Highland cow photo! 📸🐮
