The Scottish Currency Group Convenor explained the importance of Scotland developing its own currency to Yes Brechin. Several points to remember were discussed. As Scotland can comply with the criteria and conditions stipulated by the Growth Commission the SCG has planned a timeline starting Day 1 after the Yes Vote. One important point for Indy supporters to note is that an independent Scotland does not need to accept UK debt in the divorce package. None of the other 60 countries who took their independence took the debt. The transition to Independence will be an admin exercise transferring records. Banks can transition within 2years offering alternative currency but the use of ATMs could theoretically distribute the new Scots £ within weeks. Companies that trade overseas will be no different than any at present if trading in dollars, euros or Japanese Yen. Not using the GB£ has also been the conclusion of the Welsh Cmyru.

The draft Referendum Bill has been published asking 'Should Scotland be an independent country? Yes or No.'

The Bill, which will be introduced into Parliament once the necessary powers are secured, was a commitment in the Scottish Government’s 100 days programme.
