Storm response from our Arb Approved Contractors 🌳🌪️

Storm Dave hit in April and mainly affected the north of England. The Tree Fella team, based in Tyne and Wear, ended up very busy removing hazards created by strong winds and clearing fallen trees. Included within this work was damage caused to conifer trees at a local cricket club.

Part of the scope involved a partially failed conifer stem left suspended over a stream, resting on both a building and boundary fence. The damaged stem had also become entangled within an adjacent willow and wasn’t accessible to machinery, creating a particularly difficult situation.

Using triangulated climbing systems anchored to adjacent trees, together with an ArbPro winch supporting the failed stem, Louis, one of the team leaders, was able to progressively dismantle the tree, reducing its weight until the winch could lift it clear and lay it down safely to be processed on the ground.

Great work, team thetreefella.co.uk

Tree work requires specialist knowledge, skill and experience. By choosing an Approved Contractor such as The Tree Fella, you are selecting a business that has undergone independent assessment against recognised industry standards.

Newly planted trees need to be watered regularly over the summer months if they are going to become established and thrive. Research shows that 30% of newly planted street trees die within their first years, often due to lack of proper aftercare.

🌱 If you have a tree outside your house, or one that you pass on your daily walk, then you can help.

Established mature trees are able to find their own water. However, it is recommended that newly planted trees are given 50 litres of water per week during the summer months, for the first three years after planting.

The Arboricultural Association is joining forces with the and local authority tree officer associations to urge the public to water their new street trees using recycled rainwater or grey water, such as washing up water.
