Parish Council Update:
Local Needs Housing Consultation 🏡
The Parish Council is continuing to engage with the ongoing consultation led by Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC) and the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) regarding the identified need for local needs housing in our area. Our role is to represent the views of the village while also supporting wider priorities such as traffic calming, improved parking, and the long‑term ambition for a community building.
A possible site close to The Moon Inn has been highlighted by the PDNPA for early consideration. At this stage:
No planning application has been submitted.
No decisions have been made.
No definitive total of houses has been established beyond the number of properties identified through the DDDC survey.
The Parish Council would not support development on unsuitable land, and if necessary, alternative sites would be explored
We are aware of concerns raised by residents, particularly around:
• The unsuitable nature of the site
• Potential flood risk
These issues would require a full independent assessment before any proposal could progress. We also want to clarify that there are no proposals for multiple‑occupancy housing.
This is an evolving process. As discussions continue, there will be clear opportunities for the community to be involved, ask questions, and share views. Your input is essential in shaping any future decisions.
Thank you for your engagement and for helping ensure the village’s voice is heard.
