Road Closure: Calverton Road, Stony Stratford

We have been advised by Milton Keynes City Council that Calverton Road will remain closed while Anglian Water take over the repairs. MKCC do not have a date for completion yet, but we hope to have an update shortly.

Buckinghamshire Draft Local Plan Consultation: Deadline: 11:59 pm, Sunday 6th September 2026: HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE PROPOSED BEACHAMPTON DEVELOPMENT!

Buckinghamshire Council has released its draft Local Plan proposing over 8,000 new homes at Beachampton right on the edge of Milton Keynes. This development would be similar in size to the town of Buckingham.

Stony Stratford Town Council is concerned that this proposal will have severe impacts on our area, namely:

- the possible exacerbation of flooding in Stony Stratford from the proposed Beachampton settlement which drains into the Great Ouse catchment upstream of Stony Stratford.
- concerns about traffic management on local routes (it was not clear where the additional traffic from c8,000 homes would be going).

We need your voice! Stony Stratford Town Council is submitting a formal response, but it is vital that residents make their own views heard before the deadline.

A big shout out to Fred, a Summer Reading Challenge volunteer at Stony Stratford Library who took time out for an origami master class with families at the Stony Stratford Library Games Club.

Did you know that there is a weekly Games Club at Stony Stratford Library every Thursday from 3.45-4.45pm. You can bring your own games to play, or choose from the fabulous selection at the Library. The Games Club is suitable for adults and children - all are welcome.

Join us for game playing at one of our weekly Games Clubs. Make friends by playing with the games at the library or bringing your own to share. They are clubs for everyone to enjoy. We hope to see you at the next session.

Zebra Crossing, Wolverton Road

The Town Council raised concerns with Milton Keynes City Council Highways over near misses at the zebra crossing on Wolverton Road and asked them to install a signal controlled crossing. MKCC have confirmed they are carrying out visibility improvements and that “if safety concerns from pedestrians and residents remain, the Council will consider further improvements, including the conversion of the crossing to a signal-controlled one.”

Notice of resurfacing works: Stratford Road, Wolverton

Milton Keynes City Council have advised us that as part of their 2026/27 surfacing programme, they will be carrying out resurfacing works on a large section of Stratford Road, Wolverton, from Tuesday 1st September to Tuesday 8th September, weather permitting. Work will take place on weekdays only, between 9:30am and 3:30pm.

MKCC will make every effort to maintain vehicle access for residents wherever possible, but there may be short periods when access cannot be provided safely, particularly while the new road surface is being laid.

To ensure the safety of both the public and the workforce, temporary road closures will be in place during the works. Details of the closures, diversion routes and permit information can be viewed on https://one.network/.

The works will be carried out by MKCC's service provider, Ringway.

FOSSL and the Town Council are delighted to be welcoming back our Coffee Mornings from the 9th September! In September, Coffee Mornings will be held on Wednesday, 9th and Wednesday, 23rd September - slightly different to our normal rotation. Coffee Mornings will resume the usual times of 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from October. We look forward to seeing you there!
