CALL TO ACTION!

Send the UK Prime Minister a postcard to tell him that you support a trade ban with illegal Israeli settlements

As the settler terrorist violence continues to escalate in the Occupied West Bank, the UK Government is under increasing pressure to comply with International law, and ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements.

In fact, even leading Israeli figures are calling for urgent action, recognising that ending the settlement regime is key to achieving peace.

19 Israelis signed an open letter, published in The Independent, calling for action, including Michael Ben-Yair, former Attorney General of Israel and former acting supreme court judge and Prof. Itzhak Galnoor, former head of the Israeli Civil Service.

Other signatories include the former Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the former speaker of the Knesset, the former deputy speaker of the Knesset, and the former deputy Attorney General of Israel.

The UK Government holds the official position that the Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories are not only illegal under international law, but constitute a "major obstacle to the achievement of the two-State solution and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace".

In July, 140 Labour MPs sent a letter to the Foreign Secretary, calling on the government to ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements.

SEND A POSTCARD TO THE PM

Join us in sending a letter or postcard to the UK prime minister, Andy Burnham.

Even one line of writing is enough to send your message, for example:

"I support a trade ban with illegal Israeli settlements."

"Please ban all trade between the UK and illegal Israeli settlements."

"Please uphold the International Criminal Court's ruling and UN Security Council Resolution 242, by banning all trade with illegal settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territories."

Send your postcard to:

Andy Burnham
UK Prime Minister

📢 EVENT - THE WEST BANK TODAY: FACING THE ABYSS

For anyone able to be in Ullapool, members of Hebron International Resource Network (HIRN) will be speaking at The Ceilidh Place on Tuesday 8th September, 7pm - 9pm.

Free tickets are available on the door.

The speakers will offer first-hand accounts of their work in the Occupied West Bank, supporting Palestinians to stay in their homes in the face of Israeli settler terrorism.

If you can't make the evening event, we hear the speakers will be in Ullapool through the day on Tuesday and available for conversation.

What is HIRN?

HIRN is an organisation comprised of local Palestinians and international allies.  Using the principles of Sumud (steadfast hope), they seek to support Palestinians living near settlements.  By supporting their right to water, safe housing, movement, and education, Palestinians are more likely to stay on their land and in their homes. Their existence is resistance.

Itamar Ben-Gvir is the leader of an extremist far-right Israeli political party, and is Israel's Ministier for National Security.

The BBC note that his political background lies in Kahanism—a violently racist movement that supports the expulsion of Palestinians from their lands.

Ben-Gvir was speaking in a podcast with Rom Bravlaski last weekend, when he stated that Israel should "kill at least 30-40 Palestinians every night".

He wasn't talking about terrorists. He wasn't talking about soldiers.

He was talking about children. Mothers. Fathers. Grandparents. Ordinary folk, innocent.

Ben-Gvir went on to declare that, in Palestine,:

“there are people there who aren't worthy of life; they shouldn't be alive; they aren't people at all."

This is why we gather each week, to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

We stand together to call for peace.

For an end to Israel's genocide in Gaza.

For an end to the illegal occupation and apartheid-state of the West Bank.

For an end to Israeli 'settler' terrorist violence.

As our children here in the Western Isles return to school for a new year of learning, creating, playing, and building friendships, it's a harsh contrast for the 658,000 school-age children in Gaza.

UNICEF reported in November last year that more than 97% of schools in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed.

Children have had no formal education for almost three years.

While UNICEF and other charities have managed to restart some makeshift schooling from tents, there isn't room for every child. There are few teaching and learning resources - not even electricity.

It's not controversial to speak up for these children.

Every child - wherever they are - deserves a childhood and an education, just the same as our own children.

Join us each Saturday, 1pm-2pm, as we join together with people right across the globe, to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

We meet in Perceval Square, Stornoway - or stand with us wherever you are across our islands.

Monday 20th July

I just woke up in the middle of the night. We are terrified. The surveillance drones are circling overhead, and we can hear continuous artillery shelling very close by. There is a strike every minute or less. We don't know where the shells are landing, but they seem to be hitting open land not far from us.

💔

This is what a mother sent to us.

Her children huddled inside their tent - their only shelter.

The constant noise of the surveillance drones above only broken by the ground-shaking explosions.

Can you imagine?

Imagine if it were your family? Your brother's or sister's family?

These are ordinary people. Not soldiers. Not terrorists.

Ordinary people, like you and me.

Longing for a night where their children can finally sleep peacefully.

Longing for an ordinary day - turning on a tap for clean water, having a private toilet, going to work or school.

They deserve an ordinary day.

They deserve to live - to live in safety and in peace.

Please, join us each week from 1pm - 2pm in Perceval Square, Stornoway, or wherever you are across the islands, to stand in solidarity with this and every family trapped in the horror of Gaza and the Occupied West Bank.

Please, use your voice - remind people that there is no ceasefire.

Email our MP, Torcuil Crichton, and ask him to join his voice to all the voices across the UK, calling for an end to government complicity.

Call for justice and for peace.

"It was a very difficult night. The surveillance drones circled overhead without stopping, making a constant, disturbing noise throughout the dark night.

I hope there won't be any bombing or evacuation orders near us.

The rats have become terrifyingly widespread.

We wake up during the night because they run over us while we are sleeping. 💔

Our cat is busy looking after her kittens and cannot possibly catch so many rats.

Today, a free truck delivered drinking water, and we collected it in our jerry cans. We now have enough drinking water for a whole week. 🤩 That is wonderful.

The sun is shining, and the weather is very hot. Our little plants have started to grow, and seeing them is lovely. They bring us a little peace and comfort.

As always, thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring about us and for listening to us. I hope you have a beautiful day. 💗💗"

"No amount of propaganda should convince you that some children don't deserve to grow up."
- Henry James Garrett

This week, a UN commission of inquiry found that Israel deliberately targets Palestinian children.

More than 21,280 children in Gaza have been killed by Israeli forces since October 2023; 265 of these children were killed during the so-called ceasefire.

How many thousands more lie buried under the 68 million tonnes of rubble, yet to be counted and named?

Thousands and thousands more children are suffering severe bodily and mental harm as a result of Israel's continuing genocide.

21,280 children killed. That's almost the entire population of the Western Isles.

Where will you draw the line?

When will you decide that enough is enough?

What will it take for you to use your voice to call for peace?

Get in touch or take a look at our bio links for ways to stand up against war crimes, and to stand up for humanity.

On average, one Palestinian child has been killed in Gaza every single day since the so-called ceasefire was announced, in October 2025.

One child. Every day.

Since the 'ceasefire', at least 265 children have been killed in Gaza.

The violence has not stopped.

We believe that every child has the right to live in safety, with adequate shelter, food, and water, and access to education and healthcare.

We continue to join together each Saturday to remind people that the killing has not stopped.

The occupation has not ended.

There is no childhood joy for the children in Gaza, or in the Occupied West Bank.

Join us each Saturday and use your voice to speak up for those who are not heard.

"The situation is becoming more and more tense. The surveillance drones never stop, and the bombing is increasing as well.

Attacks can happen suddenly without any evacuation warning, and sometimes there are sudden evacuation orders for any area at any time, followed by bombardment.

People flee leaving everything behind."

It sounds like a scene from a film, doesn't it?

But, this is real life.

Everyday life.

This is part of the latest update from Ekram, the mother of the family we support in Gaza. They are just six among more than two million people trapped by Israel's blockade of Gaza.

Join us today and every Saturday as we gather in solidarity with Ekram and her children, the families trapped in Gaza, and the families trapped in the Occupied West Bank.
