We would like to inform you of an upcoming change to the way reports and enquiries relating to Public Rights of Way are submitted.

From 2 October 2026, our team email inbox, [email protected], will no longer accept incoming reports or enquiries. Instead, all reports should be submitted using our online reporting form available on the Report a Problem webpage:

The online form provides a more effective way of reporting issues, enabling users to:

• Pinpoint the exact location of a problem on an interactive map.
• Provide detailed information about the issue.
• Upload photographs to support their report.

The webpage also explains how reports are prioritised and the timescales we work to when investigating different types of issues. All reports submitted through the form are logged and managed according to their priority.

West Sussex are encouraging those who live and work in West Sussex to take part in a new climate change consultation, now open: Have your say in this West Sussex Climate consultation. The consultation is open until 27 September.

We are already experiencing the effects of a changing climate. Longer and more frequent heatwaves, increased flood risk, pressure on water resources and impacts on nature are affecting people, businesses and the places we value.

This important consultation will gather views on draft plans that aim to make West Sussex a greener, more resilient county where people and nature thrive together. By taking this joined-up approach we can help deliver better homes, cleaner air, lower energy costs, and thriving natural habitats.

Climate action cannot be delivered by councils alone. Success will depend on strong partnerships and the involvement of businesses, communities, voluntary organisations and residents across the county. We encourage everyone to take part and have their say on this very important issue.

Memorial Pond News

Many of you have noticed our Memorial Pond looking worryingly empty lately – the Parish Council share your concerns.
Five heatwaves and months without rain have taken their toll. Combined with existing leaks and evaporation, the water level has dropped significantly, which is concerning for the wellbeing of the fish.

We've explored options like bringing in replacement water, but it's costly (we'd need 40 tanker loads) and treated water would be toxic to the fish. Moving them isn't an option either, as they may carry Koi Herpesvirus, which could harm other local fish populations.
The real priority is repairing the concrete pond structure itself, which is in a very bad way. Once that's fixed, we can properly restore and maintain the water level long term.

Housing Development in North East Storrington Concerns

Storrington & Sullington Parish Council has today written to Horsham District Council regarding the Local (Housing) Development Plan which has been modified and re-issued by the district council.

Our Parish Planning Committee has accepted that the plan must be maintained and acknowledged the Planning Inspector's conclusion that additional housing allocations are required to meet the revised housing requirement in this area.

However, while we have expressed support for the delivery of new homes in sustainable locations, we have clearly laid out our concerns that recent modifications would result in a significant concentration of additional development in and around the north-west of Storrington. We have concerns that the modified plans do not show sufficient evidence that the cumulative impacts on transport, infrastructure, healthcare, air quality, landscape and settlement identity can be satisfactorily accommodated.

Cricket Club Portacabins

A very early morning delivery was made to the Storrington Cricket Club on Friday with the positioning of two portacabins behind the pavilion.

The portacabins which arrived at 5.45am are a temporary measure which will provide much needed additional changing room space for the members. Lack of space has been a big problem at the cricket club for some time as the membership has expanded to include younger players and girls as well as boys.

The hire is being covered by the landlords of the cricket club, Storrington & Sullington Parish Council The arrangement was made some time before the £2m CIL award was granted to the Parish Council to improve the recreation facilities in the village. The award will allow for a completely new ground-up “state of the art” cricket club and the communal areas within the pavilion will also be available for the community when not in use by the club membership.

With a donation from Storrington & Sullington Parish Council, the price is now down to only £10 for an hour (before 6pm), that’s 100 hours at this special summer price.

This pitch is perfect for team training, casual matches, regular group play and birthday games, and it’s open all day.
