Stowmarket Town Council is the first tier of local government for Stowmarket in Suffolk. Formed in 1974 from the Stowmarket Urban District Council, the Town Council serves a population of approximately 20,000 people in four wards. We are made up of 16 elected members backed up by a staff of over 30. Our meetings take place on the first and third Wednesdays of the month in the historic John Milton Room, Milton House.

BIG NEWS! 🤩

Armed Forces Day celebrations wouldn't be complete without an aerial display, so we're thrilled to confirm that we'll have a helicopter flypast at lunchtime 🚁🥳

If you're coming to our event in Stowmarket, be sure to keep your eyes to the sky so you don't miss it.

Here's the event schedule in full, with approximate timings:

• 11am - Opening from the Mayor of Stowmarket and a live performance from The Vibettes

• 12pm - Honington Band live performance

• 12.35pm - Cadet march and salutes

• 12.50pm - Speeches

• 1.05pm - Helicopter flypast

• 1.15pm - The Vibettes live performance

• 2.10pm - Military Choir live performance

• 2.55pm - Closing speech from our Armed Forces Champion

🍺The Food Museum will be hosting their Beer Festival where you can enjoy pay-as-you-go beers and local brews

🎵 Head to the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts for some great live music and a drink at the bar

📚 Stowmarket Library is the perfect cosy stop-off, with a cupcake craft activity in a relaxed creative space

🍔 Red Gables will be serving up a budget-friendly BBQ alongside live music and a selection of charity stalls

🧁 The Mix is packed with family fun, including an inflatable/kids zone, biscuit decorating, face painting, and a coffee demo

This Wednesday we will be saying a heartfelt goodbye to Heather, our Community Centre Manager, as she leaves the Town Council to begin her semi-retirement after an incredible 18 years of service.

Over the years, Heather has been a friendly and familiar face to so many people, helping make the Community Centre the welcoming and much-loved place it is today. Her commitment, support and hard work have made a real difference to the Stowmarket community.

We would like to thank Heather for her dedication and contribution to the Community Centre and wish her all the best for a happy and well-deserved semi-retirement! 💐
