Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a leading botanic garden and a global centre for biodiversity science, horticulture and education. We conserve one of the world’s richest botanical collections at our four gardens Edinburgh, Benmore, Dawyck and Logan. Scotland’s most exotic garden, take a walk in paradise at Logan with plant treasures rarely seen in the United Kingdom. Enjoying an almost subtropical climate on the south-western tip of Scotland, Logan is a showcase for colourful blooms throughout the season and home to over 1800 different plant species. Please note that we have no affiliation with Logan House Garden, which is a separate property.

As we approach October our staff are busy preparing for the Pumpkin Festival :) However, due to the hot weather over the summer there is a serious pumpkin shortage and we have been unable to source our usual stash of pumpkins!

Despite this, we remain positive and fun will not be impacted :) From 1 October come along to Logan and have family fun on our Halloween trail. Get your clue sheet from the shop, follow the clues to find our scarecrow then claim your prize :)

Under 16s free entry to the Garden. Open 10am-5pm. Booking not required.

See the sensational September delights with tree ferns and palms. There is still plenty of colour as we move into autumn and the stunning pink Nerines are starting to flower.

🎉 Conservation success! A new chapter has begun for the critically endangered Dendroseris neriifolia and the international effort to save it from extinction.

With just a single known tree remaining in the wild on Chile's remote Robinson Crusoe Island, this remarkable species was on the brink of disappearing forever. Following a race against time by conservation teams in Chile and the UK, seeds collected from the last surviving tree have successfully germinated, creating a new generation of ex-situ conservation plants and fresh hope for the species' future.

Now, two of the eight seedlings have arrived at Logan Botanic Garden, where the mild Gulf Stream climate provides ideal growing conditions. The remaining plants are being cared for at Kew Gardens and Kew Wakehurst, , while seeds not used for propagation have been secured in long-term storage at the Millennium Seed Bank to safeguard the species against loss in the wild or during cultivation.

This milestone demonstrates the power of international collaboration and long-term partnerships in preventing plant extinction and securing a future for one of the world's rarest species 🌱

Hedychium forrestii, native to Yunnan is an oriental ginger that grows up to 2 m tall making it an ideal fit for the back of a border. With its deliciously scented flowers and banana like leaves it is the perfect addition to any exotic garden. Easy to grow, the clump at Logan has greatly increased in size in recent years.

Dahlias are such great plants for providing long lasting interest through their foliage and flowers. This border sets the scene for the conservatory to the rear with its fiery, hot colours. Planted up annually in May it provides seasonal interest right through to winter.
