If you are heading to Ibiza you are in for a rare butterfly display! 🦋🦋🦋

Ibiza is having a butterfly moment 🦋

Thousands of painted lady butterflies, known as vanesas de los cardos, are crossing the island in a rare mass migration.

They’ve been spotted around Sant Josep, Sant Miquel and Sant Rafel, mostly flying north as favourable winds help them move from North Africa towards Europe.

Two Atlas Moths, Attacus atlas, have emerged at the Butterfly Farm!

🦋 They are one of the largest moths in the world, with a wingspan that can reach up to 30cm!

🐍 The tips of their wings resemble snake heads, which helps keep predators away

🌏 They are native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia

🍃 Adult Atlas Moths don't eat! They live on the energy stored from their caterpillar stage

Their adult life is short. These special moths will only be with us for a few days, so visit soon if you'd like to see them!
