Are you heading out to watch the Tour? 🚴🚴🚴

IT’S RACE DAY! 🚴‍♀️🏁

Today’s the day for the final stage of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women in Warwickshire! The cyclists will set off from Leamington Spa at 11am, taking in Kenilworth, Wellesbourne, Shipston-on-Stour and Southam, as well as some of Warwickshire’s beautiful villages and countryside, before returning to Leamington for the finish at around 2.30pm.

Head down to the Pump Room Gardens for a day of free fun for all, or check the timings to see when the race will pass your street. You can also find details of the road closures via the link below. 👇

A fantastic charity chosen by Conservative Cllr Pam Redford!

Warwick District Council Chairman, Councillor Pam Redford, has announced ILEAP Charity as her chosen charity for 2026/27.

The South Warwickshire-based charity provides leisure activities for children, young people and adults with additional needs, helping members to enjoy safe, supportive and inclusive opportunities in local community settings.

Following a recent visit to the Kenilworth Centre to meet ILEAP members and volunteers, Councillor Redford commented:

“I greatly admire the work that ILEAP does across our district, helping to give members of our community with additional needs the opportunity to make new friends, and enjoy meaningful experiences. These sessions are also a chance for families and carers to re-charge knowing that their loved ones are enjoying a stimulating caring and welcoming environment.”

Yesterday, two of our councillor team, Chris Mills and Malcolm Littlewood, attended the Tysoe Flower Show And Fete!

Here they are with stars of our communities Community Police Support Officers and Volunteer First Responders both based in and around Shipston on Stour. These wonderful people are essential for our rural communities away from urban infrastructure such as A&E. The event was also supported by our Warwickshire Fire & Rescue service. A big thank you to all of you for helping to keep us safe and secure.

Reminder that on 23rd August the Tour of Britain comes through South Warwickshire and there will be road closures.

Heads up if you live in south Warwickshire or are visiting on Sunday 23 August 🚴

Temporary rolling road closures will be in place as the Lloyds Tour of Britain passes through the county. Most closures will last around 15–30 minutes, so please plan ahead if you're travelling. ⏰

🧊 fridge or freezer packed in?! Don’t chuck it!! 🧊

It has recently been announced that Warwickshire County has suspended the collection of fridges, freezers and other cooling appliances at Household Waste Recycling Centres across the county.

The Conservative Team are:

🔵 very disappointed in this

🔵 looking for answers as best as we can!

Whilst we sort that, the key things you need to know are:

🔵 Do not bring fridges or freezers to Warwickshire recycling centres as they will not currently be accepted.

🔵If you are buying a new appliance, check whether the retailer can take away your old one as part of a take-back scheme.

🔵 If your appliance is still working, consider repair, reuse or donation.

🔵 If possible, safely store unwanted appliances at home until recycling capacity improves.

“I am honoured to retain the confidence of the Kenilworth and Southam Conservatives as their candidate and hope to continue serving the people of this constituency as their MP."

In case you missed it, last week we formally readopted Sir Jeremy Wright KC as our candidate for Kenilworth & Southam for the next general election.

South Warwickshire Conservatives Chairman, Richard Walters, said:

"We are delighted and proud that Jeremy has offered to serve for another parliamentary term. At a time when too many parliamentarians seem to occupy a spectrum somewhere between lightweight commentator and game show host, the people of Kenilworth and Southam have been fortunate to be represented by a serious legislator, an experienced parliamentarian and a steadfast advocate for their interests. Jeremy has earned a reputation for thoughtful scrutiny, principled public service and hard work on behalf of his constituents. When the starting gun is fired, we'll be ready to ensure Jeremy is returned to Parliament for a seventh term.”

We are delighted to announce that last night, during our Executive Council, we formally readopted Jeremy Wright as the parliamentary candidate for Kenilworth & Southam constituency.

South Warwickshire association spans three different constituencies, and so whilst only members from Kenilworth & Southam were eligible to voted Jeremy took questions from all members, reflecting the joint nature of our campaigning activities.

We very much look forward to campaigning for Jeremy at the next General Election.
