Only 1 in 10 parents feel they have enough support for their child's mental health and wellbeing. π
New research from Anna Freud found that just 13% of parents and carers feel they have enough support, with many calling for more guidance around stress, anxiety and low mood, better access to mental health support in schools, stronger community-based services, and easier access to counselling.
The findings also highlight the pressures many families are facing. Parents reported concerns around the impact of social media, anxiety and stress, school pressures, low self-esteem, friendships, and community safety.
Supporting a young person's wellbeing shouldn't fall on parents and carers alone. Young people thrive when families, schools, communities, and professionals work together to provide the right support at the right time.
At Lifespace, we're committed to creating safe spaces where young people can be heard, understood, and empowered, while recognising the vital role parents, carers and professionals play in supporting positive mental health.
What support do you think would make the biggest difference for young people and their families?
