We've been patrolling areas like Burton Dassett throughout the heatwaves this summer, educating people about the dangers of bbqs and fires. It might not feel it with the rain coming down today, but we've still got some hot and sunny days forecast so we're sharing some advice from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and Warwickshire County Council
During periods of prolonged hot weather we'd like to remind you to take extra care to reduce the risks of fires:
🚭 Do not discard of lit ci******es - always fully extinguish and never throw out of a car window into grass or hedges.
❤️🔥 We advise against using disposable BBQs in this hot weather. If you do use one, don't place it on grass or near fences and trees and always make sure it is properly extinguished and cool before placing in the bin.
🚯 Don't leave litter, especially glass, which can easily start a fire.
❤️🔥 Avoid bonfires wherever possible. We strongly discourage bonfires in the heat as they can easily get out of control and create unnecessary fire risk, particularly during dry weather
